3x3 tent lighting?

I have a 3x3x6 tent on the go. Plants a few weeks in under a small LED light. Was intending to hook up a my HID light fixture today with the 400 watt bulb I had and the ballast that I got in the mail today. My stupid (and high) ass didn’t realize the lowest setting for the ballast was for 600 watts and I blew my only MH bulb. At the moment I’m dead broke so I’ll be keeping the plants under the LED for now to keep them in veg. But what I’m wondering is since I have a light fixture and ballast that can support a 600 watt light could I just use that for my 3x3? Don’t wanna have to go through all the trouble of sending back the ballast and waiting for a new one

Forgot to mention some seeds were started later than others because I ended up with some duds and decided to start more

Do you intend to run a hps bulb during bloom? You mentioned a MH bulb is reason I ask. At 66w per sqft you will do really good with a good air cooled hood and exhaust fan that can keep temps around 78f or so.

Yes I plan on switching to hps for the bloom. First time trying to do one of these set ups

If you can cool a 600W in a 3x3, go for it. 400W MH/HPS is pretty ideal for a 3x3, 600W is great for a 4x4. Anything above 30 actual watts per square feet will be good. 50W per square foot is normally what you'd want to aim for.
