I switched to 12/12 4 weeks ago and still no pre-flowering! 2 of them did sex though and were boys. The rest are still vegging but showing some pistols here and there. I checked for light leaks a week ago and had a couple but fixed them. I have a 400 watt HPS. Im wondering if my problem is that i bought the 400 watt hps bulb from Lowes. Anyone using bulbs from Lowes? It was 30.00 bucks as compared to buying hortilux for 70.00 at hydro store. Is there going to be any difference in the bulbs?

a hps bulb is a bulb nonetheless. my MH came from lowes. what nutes do you use? sound like too much nitrogen has stalled your flowering cycle or your still using high n nutes.

I agree that too much nitrogen could be the cause. The light leaks probably didn't help either.

What strain are you growing?

but this shudnt help - im in my 3rd week of flowering with widow and rhino and when im feeding my plants flowering nutes i still continue to feed them 1/4 strength veg nutes - jus so they get enuf nit ro continue in producing true green leaves! the problem isnt with that in my opinion - i would say its due to light leaks and maybe when all lights are off there is not complete darkness!
are you sure you aint growing auto - strain plants? maybe they needed to VEG at all?
pics would be good and to be fair dude, i need more info about ur grow times, etc etc then i will give u my 2 pence worth

hope this helps - hit me up if u need any more help and ill give u my opinion

I'm using Bio Thrive for flowering. I have the lights on for 12 hours at night. From 9pm to 9am. Off during the day to keep temps down. Got them up in the open attic but I enclosed a 12x6 area with plastic for walls. I've got reflextic insulation up covering the plastic to make thicker walls. Lol The temps get anywhere from 70-90 deg up there. I don't have an air flow system set up so i turn the lights on at night. I have only fed them twice since they started with 12/12 4 weeks ago. For the first 3 weeks of 12/12 I didn't give them any nutes.

True, but there are plant specific HPS bulbs that have better spectrum range than say a warehouse HPS bulb.

Are those temps when the lights are on or off?

Temps in the 90s without CO2 can really reduce the growth rate of indoor crops.

Yes, I am aware that outdoor plants grow/flower in those temps, but these aren't outdoor plants and it isn't a 1:1 comparison.

bro they need there bloom nutes quite alot - esp in the first few weeks - hence why i buy advanced nutrient : BUD BLOOD - promotes pre flowers and dense heavier nugs - look into it - i have the powder - u pay for results in this game

get some pics uploaded - if ur growing sativas they will take longer than indicas

You had light leaks up to a week ago. You have only been in flowering one week.
thank you for bringing some sanity. hes right, forget nutes, forget type of hps. if there were light leaks the first three weeks, the plants have just barely started budding!

He England123, where do you get your BUD BLOOD nutes? For some stupid reason I thought i needed to wait on feeding them for a couple weeks. I'll keep feeding them at this point. Do you feed yours each time you water? It gets up to 90 on hot days in there during the day. That is during their dark period. I bet thats what it is, they are too warm during their sleep period.

Ok! THANKYOU! There's my answer. Thanks for all of your input. The strain is basically 1/4 WW 1/4 ICE and the other half from bagseed.

EXACTLY ! Go in your room and sit in there for five minutes and see if you can see anything at all. Should be black. Light leaks will not only extend veg but KILL your yield as well indoors. Usually results in very airy and spindly buds once they finally do really bloom.
