I have an area of about 4x5 feet with a 4 foot ceiling. if I move my plants right from the cloner into the flowering stage to keep them short, I think I should have enough room. my question, should I get a 400 watt HPS or invest the little extra money into a 600 watt HPS to get tighter buds? or.. is this a bad idea with the low ceiling and will more likely just burn the plants?

well, a 600 hps is the most efficient in terms of lumens per watts. Of the top of my head a 400 watt is 55,000 lumens and a 600 watt puts out 95,000 lumens. You should be fine with height as long as you keep your veg time short.
sweet! just kinda worried about how close the plant tops will get to the light. and yes, going for the SoG method. perpetually stoned out of my mind.
I definitely want to air cool the light with a separate fan. just hoping it all doesn't cost to much. what kind of price do you think I'm looking at for a 600 watt lamp, reflector, ballast, and cool tube?
I got my 600w HPS, Digital Ballast, and hood. for 210. with shipping included. check out ebay
wow, really amazing! I'm looking at $300-$500 for a HPS system at a grow shop. I would buy off ebay, but I'm just being really overly cautious, not taking any chances at all. I'll be paying the extra hundred or 2 to keep my purchase private.
