Same thing happen to me on a 1000 hps the ballist and bulb are only 4 months old? I pluged light into spare ballist and it came on. But what to do about ballist ?

I know on certain bulbs if you touch it, it won't turn on. I don't know if it's the same, our bodies oil will not allow the bulb to turn on, get some gloves on wipe it down with isopryl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and screw it back in.

unplugg, open it up and look for a loose wire. Really nothing to complex in a ballast 3 parts to tell the truth.

Good Luck

I would open it up and swap parts from you working ballast to see what make the broken one work.. what ever makes it work is what you need.. i would think most people would be intimidated by all the electrical work but as stated above it really is pretty simple there should even be diagrams on line in case you are not sure. Ok this is strange, so ive tried everything and gave up hope, and i was looking on homedepot for smaller fast hps to keep her flowering, and as soon as i clicked the first one to look closer at it, my 400watt thought i might start working again

haha i thought that was pretty funny
