thanks for tunin in...im sorta new here...ive been a lurker for years and ive decided to come out of my shell...why the fuck not

so it all started out with 6 plants in two tubs...each tub was huge and had a pump feeding a pvc mister manifold...the results were great for my first attempt, ill post some pics in a bit

the problems of this system were in its maintenance and res temps and for my 2nd go at it, i went to a bucket system...only two plants, smaller tent, and an outside res...the system worked great, it was a rdwc modeled after blazeoneup's tutorial on icmag, and i didnt think i was going to change it

lol...but i did...i expanded it to a 4 bucket system and added the misters back in...this time using 1/4" hose around the bucket lid...check out the pics below

the plants are white berry, ice cream, sensi star, and a pandora autoflower all from paradise..they are all 2 weeks from seed tomorrow

im using the recipe for success kit from technaflora, a 400w MH for veg, and a small exhaust fan

i still need to work on my smell issues....i also use light co2 enhancement (bottled) for 6 weeks of flowering

thanks again for checkin this out...i hope to update it regularly and i look forward to any comments, suggestions, questions, etc.

You have to upload then attach. When you upload, hit exit and look at the paperclip icon, choose the pic u want, and click. It will attach the pic to your message. Uploading just uploads it, but doesnt post it. Kinda weird but thats how it works :)

the first pic is the grow space...the 2nd pic is the ice cream...the 3rd is the pandora...the 4th is sensi...and the 5th is white berry...any info anyone can share on these strains would be awesome

the pics of the buckets show what i did...i took two net pot covers to each bucket...the bottom cover has the bottom of the net pot removed so the roots are only held by the top cover...on the belly of the bottom cover i drilled some holes and held a 1/4" tube with 3 misters attached via tees by some tie wraps...the top cover holds the plants

what do you think? is it DWC cuz my water level is high and they just sorta sit their...is it nft cuz im tricklin low pressure water over the roots to get a film...or is it bubbleponics cuz the waters a boilin away in them buckets?

idk...and i dont think it matters as long as i get some freakin weight off these ladies

thanks again for your support and i really learned alot about all this stuff from alot of you vets out there so cheers

here is a little of the history...the first pic is hashplant from my 2nd grow...this is just before i picked her...it came out ok but i knew i could do better...i pulled 5 zips from 2 clones a buddy gave me after i scrogged it

the second pic is from my first grow...the diy areo tub....and the third pic is the result of that experience....6 plants, 4 different strains, and an incredible heat problem...i lost one plant to root rot...you can see how droopy the look...lol

anyway, i learned alot from these two grows and i invested in some really nice genetics (allegedly) this time so i hope to continue to improve and learn as i go

peace out and thanks for your support

ya they're growing every day right now...its awesome...ill post some pics later tonight...the ice cream looks retaaahded tho....idk wtf its problem is...someone mentioned pH but ive never had problems running at 5.8 before with any strain...shes even more fuct lookin today

Looks sweet brutha...I actually have a 10gal tote I plan on converting to a DWC but since I've only had dirt under my nails I'm sort of reluctant to set it up and fail...lol..I know I can make a successful run in soil...just moved in this place and dont have the room to run experiments like I did in the place before this...I was however able to get those temps regulated and now my "contraption" stays the exact temp my house is so now away I grow !!!!

so i was actually only running at 160 ppms...i went back and checked my notes from the last time i had tested the tds (a couple of days ago)...when i checked again today the ppms were still 160 but my pH went up to 6.6 (from 5.8 a few days ago)

i changed the res and moved to the "vegetative stage" formula from the technaflora kit...now my pH is back to 5.8 and my tds is 444 ppms.....i stayed at the 25% mix

ill post some pics in a few days and we should see a veg explosion

here are some pics from a couple of nights ago...they are all looking ok...the ice cream mutant is growing out of her funk it seems like

the pH crept up on me to about 6.1...my ppms have been steady but im getting some pretty good growth and root development nonetheless

tomorrow im going to do a res change bumping it up to 50% of the recc. strength of the technaflora kit

there is some sort of slime/algae/gunk/crap growin on the inside of my res walls...idk if its in the buckets or not...and idk if i should clean the shit out of it tomorrow of it its good for the bacteria in the system...any heads up on that would be HUGELY appreciated

i want to scrog so im getting impatient that they are getting fatter instead of taller...lol

thanks for checkin it out

this is the white berry...there is crap on her roots...my res temps are 65 deg F so idk if its root rot or not

i think its the nutes

im going to change the res right now, use 50% of the recipe, and not use any of the b-1 red thrive alive

im also going to clean up all the algae and slime n shit out of the res and the buckets...its not bad but i can see it becoming a bigger problem very quickly

i was also thinking about scraping the slime off of the white berry roots if it doesnt clear itself up...any ideas on this?

You can flush with fresh ph water for 24 hours and use a little bit of h202 splash/rinse the roots and just let them clear out in the fresh water..then bring them back up to 1/4 nutes and top off with 1/4 strength daily until you have worked your way back up to your desired ppm. If you ever screw up your pH and get lockout, use CLEAREX, it regulates the water and you start out fresh!

today they are all 4 weeks from seed...i had/have some issues and they had a little stunted growth at one point but i think theyre coming out of it ok

i just need to be extra high maintenance on this grow...4 strains and a new nute formula are causing major upsets in the res...everyone wants to eat differently naturally so finding a happy medium is difficult

im fighting root rot on all of them..the white berry and the sensi are the worst...the other two arent really that noticeable...i think ive contained it from growing at least for now

last week i used 1/2 cap full of bleach into the res twice..about 40 mins apart...2 days later i did the same thing...then last night i completly cleaned out everything and circulated plain tap water and h202...this morning i dumped that and just filled up with water...im going to add nutes in a bit, i just want to let the system cicrulate

i also added a filter bag over my pump and repaired some clogged misters...increased my pump off time to a little over 3 mins, 40s on

im using less water in the system now too, allowing the roots to hang and just get dripped on NFT...theres max 2 or 3 inches of water in each bucket with about 8 gallons in my res

im going to add the new nutes...wait...balance pH to about 5.6...wait...and add some h202

i put the scrog screen in today...the wb and sensi are already enjoying some LST

i think the pandora auto is flowering and shes no where near the screen...i think she would prefer a higher pH than im using but shes last priority of the group

the ice cream mutant plant is a natural bush

im going to let them veg at least 1 more week, maybe 2 depending on how they do on the screen

o..i also think i was able to get the deficiencies taken care of...there wasnt enough food for them on 1/4 strength and pH was all over the place...the new growth looks good...im using 50% strength...what do you think?

thanks for reading/looking and please leave some comments...id really like to hear what everyone thinks...especially about the roots...should i just leave all the dead looking slimy shit in there or should i wait until i get some more new shiny white roots and then chop it out? idk if its just going to keep haunting me

thx

so they got a fresh res of 800 ppms...i followed the RFS from technaflora for a 9 gal res at 75% strength...i also added about 4 tsps of root daddy and 4 tsps of bc bloom...im about to go to flower soon and i think i should get the P and K up a lil bit...i let it all circulate and i just checked pH...6.4...i added a little pH down, a 1/2 cap ful of bleach and about 300 mL of 3% H202...im going to keep a close eye on the pH

Enough of the bleach, thats not to healthy for the plants to be taking up!
i know too much can be a disaster...hopefully im using a steady hand tho...lol...i started using it last week...on a tuesday or wednesday i think...i did it twice that week...just a 1/2 cap full, twice about 40 mins apart...i really attribute the bleach to the new shiny white roots and not the h202...this week i started with one 1/2 cap full...im not going to add in any more until about wed-thursday just to get me to the weekend for the next clean out/ res change

last weekend i took the white berry out and literally soaked her in the straight 3% h202 i have and it did nothing...straight on her roots...nada...no increased whiteness and no removal of the slime...its too diluted...the bleach however seems to be the only thing working for me right now

its not the bleach either, its the chlorine that gets added to the water by using the bleach...a lil chlorine keeps the water honest and inhibits slime n other gunk from growing in the water...its why they add it to public drinking water systems...too much is poisonous tho so ya gotta be careful...the dosing i use cannot be detected by smell...the only difference is visual for me...both in the new shiny white roots and in the way my water looks and feels...it seems to stay crisp water longer and not get to be slimy water so quick

before i had this problem, i would use a res for about 2 weeks before dumping...10 days minimum...now with this rotting/slime/whateverthefuckitis problem i have to change my res every couple or few days to feel good about it...im hoping small amounts of chlorine dosing can prelong this to back to around 7-10 days...this helps me keep my maintenance down and my nute cost down

and i really cant get over how white the roots turn out...

i think the problem with using bleach is either when you use too much or you leave whatever youve used in the res too long...when it stays in the water for too long it starts turning into other things and fucking up the chem of the res...if you get rid of it before it has a chance to do that then there should only be benefits...i think

idk man this is my first time using so im still paranoid about it!

i gotta poke this out...sorry for ramblin on a bit
