430w HPS?

I'm about to buy a used light from some one its a PL lighting system but she is saying its 430 watt hps and i've never heard of 430 watts? can anyone shed some light on this for me? I just wanted to run it by the board before making an investment

look up how much the bulbs are for it. It might be a bulb that is hard to get or more expensive. And when it comes to bulbs they get really expensive.

I have a 430 watt HPS. Basically, the bulb has extra blue spectrum added. It is supposed to make flowering quicker by a week or two. Only disadvantage is the bulbs are rated for fewer hours. It's something like 13K hours compared to 40K hours on a regular HPS bulb. What I did to decide was calculate how many hours I would use for one grow and with the 430W it could last up to 3 years. That does help thanks a lot. This might be a stupid question but can i not use a 400w bulb with a 430w ballast? I know a lot of you prob just slapped your forehead. Rsixxer where did you get the 430w bulb?

Just type Son Agro-T into google and there are plenty of sites out there. The one I have was like 80 bucks and is a Phillips brand. I went with it because it's the newest technology, and I read a few reports of large growers in Amsterdam using them for the entire grow. We all know they grow some of the best out there. To answer your first question, you can substitute a 400W HPS for a 430W HPS Son Agro. The extra 30 watts is just because there is that added blue spectrum in the bulb, it actually doesn't pull more amperage from the ballast.

Yeah, I also have a 430 watt system. The bulbs are not that hard to find. You can not use a 400 watt ballast or bulb in a 430 watt system.
