1000% agree!!

Just check out the details and you should be good. Not like 5 years ago when 90% of LEDs were so terrible.

Detail check list:
Quality Components (LEDs, Drivers, Frames/Heatsinks)
Par Maps
Warranty
USA company
That last point is the hangup. Which companies actually manufacture fixtures in the USA?

Eh, not that much of a hang up at all. Let me explain please..

It doesn't matter where the product is made as long as it is made well and using quality components.
Gavita, Luxx, Grower's Choice, FloraFlex, I could keep going all day long..... they are all made overseas. No matter what you hear, they are, made overseas. Not Holland either, cough cough (Gavita). So are most LED companies, otherwise they would be charging you double, like, well, I'm not going to name drop them, but they were already mentioned in this post (good company though).

Even the companies that do manufacture in the US... where do you think they buy their Samsung LEDs from? Or their Meanwell Drivers, etc? How bout their wiring and what not? Think they manufacture all that stuff here in the US? Nope. It's all manufactured overseas. They just buy it in HUGE bulk and then assemble the lights with these components here in the US and then they charge you more because they have to.
Now for all of you that know about US LED chip companies, well yes, you can buy USA LEDs (Not Samsung)... but they are double the price and not as good (or maybe just compare to Samsung).

My point here is, if you are using a computer that you paid $1000 for that was manufactured in China or Malaysia, what have you... and you are comfortable buying that, knowing it isn't going to crap out on you. Knowing that the quality is not shit, that it is actually really good quality. Then you may as well get over the fact that the LED light you are about to buy was manufactured and assembled overseas as well. It's not a big deal.

The US company that buys the lights, is a real US company, they have obviously done all the leg work for you, so why not trust them?
Just do your checks like I mentioned in my last reply - Company uses quality components, is a USA company, has good par maps, has warranty and maybe check their customers success or lack their of.

No disrespect to your choice in lights or the company that makes them whatsoever, but Plizon isn't the best choice of lighting. Yes, it is a great light and the price is absolutely stellar. 1) It's not a US company, yes its on Amazon but it's not a US company 2) They don't use lm301b chips, they do the usual China thing and use a higher number of lm301D or lm301Z chips (probably Z, sorry dude). 3) Their bars and drivers are in fixed positions, IE: they can not be detached. For the driver, that means the heat coming from it can not be moved, its just going to stay there, like a Luxx or a Gavita. Eh, whatever I guess but I really like being able mount/hang my driver separately from the bars. For the light bars.... that really sucks, because if during their warranty 1 of their bars goes out or starts flickering or something, you are stuck taking down your light and shipping it in for a new one 1-4 weeks later. TRUST ME, your plants don't like when there is no light to use LOL (happened to me with KIND LED, FU KIND LED!). And if this were to happen, who pays for shipping the light back? Who pays for shipping the replacement? Ahhhh now the warranty small print really comes into play (did I mention FUCK YOU 'KIND LED'?!?!?! lol). I always always recommend buying lights with detachable parts for this reason... and check the warranty! USA companies are much more willing to pay for these types of things, Chinese companies? No, they will not pay for a full light to go back to China and a new full light to be shipped to you.
Buy from US companies :)

No kidding about the Phlizon? I know. It was my only option not costing $200 in shipping to Alaska. But for a hair over $500 I'm damned happy. Especially with my electric bill.

Growers Choice was my desire. At least $200 shipping. Sorry.

Yeah, it's not a bad light by any means! I almost bought one but when I found out they were using D or Z chips (I forget, it was a while ago when I asked) and that the driver was no name brand and internal/fixed position, and that the bars are also fixed in place and that they are an overseas company... I chose something else, and I'm now in love with these bird lights (lol) I bought a few months ago.

My neighbor down the road paid $1000 for the Growers Choice ROI 720. I like it but for that price I'd buy 2 of these.

By the way my own advice for engines and grow lights is the same. Buy the biggest you can even if you have to stuff it in. Especially LED lights that dim. Don't buy underpowered lights. You'll inevitably want bigger and better. If you can fit a 720 in and can shoehorn it in then do that. You never hear anyone "I wish I had a smaller and weaker light."

Better watch it, the Soy Sauce Boyz are gonna be in here soon waving their Chinese flag screaming about how their knockoff leds are the exact same  But seriously, it's nice to hear someone with common sense :blsmoke:

More than likely the 480 will have a smaller footprint than the 600?

Meaning the 480 will probably be like 3’ x3’ in size? The 600 will cover the 4x4 perfect for coverage.

If the 480 is a 4x4 sized light it will do the job that needs to be done imo.
This is what I have found.

Hi everybody.
I just got a 4x4 tent and was wondering if a 480w led is enough for it or do I need more power like a 600?

I don't want to spend the money on a 600w if I'm only going to ever run it @ 80% but I don't want to get a 480w and find out I should have gotten a more powerful light.

Can someone help and maybe give me some ideas of what light would be a good fit?
The upside to running a light at 60-80% and not 100% is that if you get CO2 you can crank out higher ppfd if you want, also running at like 80% means less stress on the diodes and an overall longer fixture life.

Personally 600 is the max I'd go in a 4x4, 480 Is probably sufficient for the space though, I have 2 730w fixtures in my setup and I only go to 100% during early/mid flower and I'll still sometimes see some light stress.

I run a 480w(Marshydro fce 4800)in my flower tent, it gets the job done just fine, but a 600 would do it a little better, more light penetration and a wider spread. If the extra $100-$200 you’ll pay for a 600W isn’t going to put you in a tight spot go for it. If you been pinching pennies saving up for a light the 480 will do the job.

Check math. Using leds you need around ³⁰ to ³⁸ watts pwer square.. 4 ft x ⁴ math it out. 1 have 183 watts full spec. And my master is hating on my node structure. To each their own jedi. My last baby veged to ⁴ ft 4 months under 100w cfl. Anything is possible.

That's what I had Meiju build for me.a pair of them. The A8(or F8 or whatever) frame with 6 bars and a 480 watt Meanwell. They did them cheap too. I think they may offer them now.

I'm a bit confused on the value proposition of medium to high-end lights versus the cheap crap I now pick up on Amazon.

Start off with I have a 4 of 90s/180 enjoyield dual bar lights that I got for 90 bucks a pop. That was 50 cents a watt and totally filled a 4x4 tent. If any of them died I would have been okay but not happy. I spread the risk between four lights but not between multiple vendors.

Then I started playing with these

SZHLUX Grow Light 2FT 80W (2×40W) Full Spectrum LED Grow Light, Linkable Sunlight Plant Light for Indoor Plants, Grow Light Strip, Grow Lamp with On/Off Switch - 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JLLT777/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_TZWGB9ER650B00YHBWWS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Ass kicking crap. I'm sure one or two will die soon enough. But I don't care. They're $14 a piece for 37 w. And yes, I tested the watts.

I did not use any type of light meter. If they are 10 to 20% less efficient then any competitor I still don't care for the price and replaceability. Electricity to run 600 watts for 18 hours a day for a month is about two bucks max. Who cares if you lose half of that or all of that. Efficiency for small grows is meaningless.

If you have a dark corner add a light. It cost $14 and another $0.30 to run for the month.

As far as popcorn at lower levels? I'm talking personal grow here, 4x4. That's easily 1.5lb of dense buds at the top level if it is well cared for. I don't give a s*** about the bottom levels. That's way more pot than I'll ever smoke.

I can hang individual lights over individual plants. We are talking a 4x4 that is not a big problem to manage and adjust and get the most exposure based on a given bar.

These lights would suck for a large-scale grow. But I think for a small tent such as a 4x4 this style of lighting is best. Buy the cheapest crap you can get and make it easily replaceable with more cheap crap. You will win in the long run.

I love the Fold-8 in a 4x4 at 80%. I think its 750 watts max but something like 550 at 80%, which is honestly more light than I need, but I agree with above, better to have more watts than you need and be able to dial it down.
