4ft x 4ft space: How many HPS lights, how many autoflower plants?

Hey Folks! I've had problems in my box room and have been advised by a friend to change from CFL to HPS.

I used to be able to grow 10-12 autoflowers under 3 CFL light/reflectors + 3 CFL verticals.

I'd like to increase my yield - and told that HPS will definitely do that.

Would 3 HPS reflectors + bulbs be too hot for the space? Do I need that many? Total newbie here (and searching brings back so many confusing answers). Advise GREATLY appreciated!

All you need is one hood, one 600w mh / hps bulb and ballast.

Be prepared to deal with a lot of heat.

Make sure to have good ventilation and air circulation because hps produce a lot of heat.
If heat is a big problem in your room, then use an air cooled reflector.

From what y'all are saying, heat sounds like it could be a problem. I'll go look into CMH (never heard of it, so hadn't considered it as an option!).

Would LED be better? Are there UK people getting good results in a similar space?

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! :-)

Leds are more expensive than hps but emitt less heat and also draw less electricity. So if money isnt a problem buy a led panel.

16 sf 50 watts per sf 800 watts. A 600 watt HPS should be able to handle that with a cool hood and a 6" inline exhaust fan exhausting hot air out of the space the tent is in, and you should be fine. regarding autoflower I have never grown that style, but I believe they are a smaller than normal plant? so probably more plants than less would be my guess for a good yield.

I don't generally grow auto flowers either but have in the past.
A lot of the new ones are beasts and get large as hell.... Pay attention to breeder specs!

I grow old school thanks for the advice but I do not grow that style. Perhaps you missed that in my response
I don't think he was trying to give you advice. you said you have never grown autoflowers. he said he doesn't generally grow autoflowers either.. but since he has in the past and is also aware there are new autoflowers that get large, I think he was mentioning that for the op

I think if he focused on the OP instead of me would be more on topic with the thread. The thread is not about me two of you ruining people threads to make it about me. Everyone has grown tired of the non stop trolling grow up let folks enjoy. Don't need your mansplaining to me. I am older than you most likely.
What do you have to say on topic to the OP not my thread?
