Hey every one at roll it up, my mate is on his first time growing from seed he usually uses clones, so he don't know how to check sex male or female, basically it is now the 4th day of flowering being induced to 12/12 lighting, switched from 18/6 veg from seed total of 4 weeks, We have both checked with a magnifying glass the 9 plants he has growing with 600 watt hps have all got two little pistil like spikes parallel to each other from the bottom nodes to the last node to the top we can't see any signs of calyx or ball sacks. Also as it's only 4th day into flowering is it too early to sex an see signs of male or female? the plants are showing bud sites too can they be reverted back to veg after sexing? he is worried if he switches back to 18/6 they might hermi....

I will try getting pictures of them if get a chance too.

In my little experience from using only seeds, it can take about a week and a half before you see signs. However, I have noticed the males present themselves slightly earlier than the females....? Maybe someone can back me up or refute me.

What Stomata said! Patience (and discipline), without them you'll always harvest too early ;-)

Two factors are strain and age. Plants typically veged less than 4 weeks, take a little longer to pull into bloom than more mature plants, veged about 6 - 8 weeks.

Indicas almost always seem to kick into hard bloom before most sativas. Even phenotype variations within a strain can play a roll as well, with my Blue Mystics at seven weeks, two began bloom within 7 days, the others took about 14-18 days before you could see obvious signs.

Some growers swear by doing a 36hr blackout just prior to the 12/12 switch and say it decreases bloom time.

thanks guys for the replies we are being patient but as we have thrown them into flower an seeing some bud sites already we thought if we flip again to veg after sexing they might hermi, also as i said in the first post the main stem has smallish spikes growing parallel to each other every other set of nodes going up to top just like calyx's but with out that whitish hair.
