The reason I asked is because I have a similar drip line just laying around, and wondered how well it worked with 'living soil'...
no worries though....ATB!

I would veg until the you have an average plant height of 15" nodes should easily be staggering by then and then probably looking at 36-48" max height with your topping. I personally have stopped topping, last 2 grows I did side by sides, topping 2 and not topping the rest, and to be honest the topping ones have not exceeded the weight of the non-topped but by about 3-5g. Sure more colas but not has big in girth... I got a finaly topped plant growing now and though there are 4 colas on this bad boy I am not expecting it to be a huge difference, the 2 plants on either side of it arent topped and 3 of the topped colas are looking to be the same size together as a single cola on the other and the other ended up giving me 2 sides that look like they will out do the 4th cola on the topped.

i like the idea of using a botanicare tray as a soil bed, but I would forsee troubles with having to leave the plants stationary there entire grow. I like to take them out into the kitchen somtimes and look over them with a led flashlight (in case of pm or other issues like hard to see nanners)

I will enjoy this grow journal though!

cheers

yea I usually move my plants around alot too, and working on em' and stuff is gonna be a bitch. The idea behind it though, is that each plant has no root restriction at all, and I'm thinking it's gonna improve the yield on theses normally low yielding small plants. It's just a hobby thing to keep me from getting bored with it all haha.

IMG_3787.jpgIMG_3786.jpgIMG_3785.jpgIMG_3784.jpgIMG_3788.jpgI don't guys...I think I'm gonna have to flip this batch pretty soon, they're gettin' all in each others business. That's what I wanted, but I knew once they started touching, it was gonna be time. I think I'm gonna do some bending and tieing, and see how much space I can make, before I flip em' though.

IMG_4051.jpgIMG_4045.jpgIMG_4049.jpgIMG_4050.jpgIMG_4047.jpgIMG_4048.jpgIMG_4046.jpgOK, I decided to go ahead and flip em'! They are 6 weeks vegging, and they are getting thick in there. I'm glad I thought ahead, and pulled the grow tent they are in away from the wall far enough for me to get behind it,and open the back door to work on those plants in the back! I'm still trying to decide whether or not I'm gonna clean up the bottoms of the plants and thin them out, or just let them go naturally. Some people say they do better if you don't cut anything, and some say they do better if you cut all the lower stuff and redirect the energy up to the tops. Maybe I'll clean up the front half, and leave the back half natural, and just see which way works best!
This is a learning/test run, just for fun, so wtf!?! I think I might do it!

Hey wheezer awesome grow!

That's cool about the 12-1 cycle working for you, I've heard of it but never seen it done. I wonder if it competes with 18-6. I believe plants need some darkness and grow faster with a dark period.

How do you have your lights set up on that schedule? A digital timer?
I like the soil bed too. Pretty cool. Do you water till you get runoff or does the tray have no drainage?

Well I'm definately subbing!

Awesome job!

Actually, I have a timer, but don't use it. I'm here all the time so I just flip it manually.
Yes, I drilled extra holes in it for drainage, and I just water what I think they need.

Right on man, well things are lookin awesome.

Definately have enough light!
haha yea, I definitly have PLENTY of light! I'm gonna sart it off for the first few weeks with the same bulbs I vegged with, which is a 1000 watt dual arc, and a 600 watt MH conversion bulb. I'm gonna switch the 600 to HPS and leave the dual arc in there I think. Either that, or I'll leave the 600 MH, and switch the 1000 to a straight super HPS, either way I'll be getting both spectrums, but I want to start it with more blue, and finish with more red, just like in nature!
