5 mistakes most new growers make.

I started the ole fashioned way with a bag seed behind dads garage & damm glad I did
I'm new at growing, I started with a bagseed a little over a year ago, and that feels good, not even sure why. I eventually confirmed it was Purple Wreck, and it is still the best weed I've grown. But did I keep a mother past the second run? Of course not. Because I'm a fucking moron.

I have some strains running now that will probably turn out as good or better, but it has been a year of trying to duplicate the success of my second run. First "run" was the original mother by herself,I basically never grew a plant of any kind before that. The second I ran a clone of her and it turned out spectacular quality. I knocked the only cut I took off a shelf before it was rooted, she damped off and that was that. But now I'm geeked on gardening in general and couldn't be happier about it, so the whole thing has had a huge payoff in terms of enjoying life.

I will admit that bag seed today isn't the same as bag seed of old. Back in the day it was just Mexican bag seed around my area. There were indoor growers for sure. Hell, I've been indoor since 1999. Even then, I had a killer indica dominate bag seed that was some fire. I didn't clone it so the next run was the total opposite, long stretched out sativa. Still very good smoke.

Ijs that today's bag seed is usually good genetics compared to about 20 years ago(again, in my area)

Damn near had to marry her just to finally get a bud that had a seed in it. Spent 2 years hearing fine girls tell me "don't you date that big ass lurch lookin bitch?" Just to answer back. yeah, but she's really nice and her family are real good to me......not gonna lie that made em really like me though........but I digress....damn lucky kids:cuss:

she sounds hot,did she look like this ?

Here are some pics of my four plants, two white lightening and two northern lights, they are getting flushed for a week before I crop them to be dried out and cured. Although I haven't posted very much I have used the forum and people's posts as an invaluable source of information and am incredibly grateful to have this as a resource at my disposal, my original idea was to grow in soil but I opted to use Cocoa Coire and went with the Canna range of nutrients but did use Ecothrive charge to enrich the growing medium upon the advice of a friend that has been a successful grower for many years now and I have made great use of the Canna thread on the forum also. So a big thank you to all that have contributed here especially those that took the time to respond to my posts/queries you have been a greater help than you will ever know...I'll be looking up curing now as it's my next learning curve.

And because of the American experience, you mention bag seed here on RIU and thats what they think.

I live In Australia..our bag seed was and still is majorly Sativa based. From plants derived from Thailand and Vietnamese, Cambodian strains, etc. Grown in a wet and warm environment with a long summer (in the main). Strains many generations old and very stable.

Drives me a little nuts on the whole hate bag seed mentality here at times. I thought it was encourage and started from the seed companies until i read a few Mex brick threads.

Nothing wrong with bag seed here, thats for sure,

Curing is the "key" to decent smoke. Judging by the pics of the plants you will nail that to.
Thank you, I really spent a fair bit of time reading up information on here and sifting out what appeared to be bad advice against good. In just this short period my first successful grow I've learnt to recognise the plants needs to an extent and its been very interesting and rewarding to watch them respond to varied conditions etc, it has become a really interesting and rewarding hobby and I must admit I'm pretty pleased with myself so far but I realise I'm not quite at the end and this is not the time to become complacent as drying/curing is an important/essential as any of the other stages I have been through. I have really learnt by doing here but with excellent help and advice from the members of this forum...I must admit I am quietly confident this stage though haha

You're all invited around for a smoke and a few beers once it is done! :-)

It is a rewarding hobby. Lots to lean and different ways to grow..lots and lots of those.

In regard to curing whilst u do your research, also look at the Fermenting and traditional curing, way of doing it. Its very different and im not saying cure it that way (i haven't as yet) but its an eye opener and may help with the "white modern way" as well.

GL and congrats on your grow!
