I'm 5weeks into my first grow. I'm only running a cheep small set up but I was expecting to see bigger buds and more trichome production by now. Maybe I'm wrong. I will upload pics for you all to see and give a description of my set up. I'm running 3x red poison from sweet seeds and a fruit auto from dinafem. I'm only using a 300 watt dual spectrom cfl... I am going to be adding another 105 watt 2700k as its just arrived today... Just waiting on an adaptor. Would you expect to see quite heave trichome production into week 5 from germination? I know its kinda strain dependant ... But one of the red poisons is looking quite frosty and the others ain't. I had a problem with thrips at the beginning of flowering but seem to have that under control. Iv also had a problem with what I thought was nitrogen toxicity the past few days but have seemed to of got that back under controll. This has all ben one kinda experiment for me and I feel I have learned alot in the 5 weeks ( extensive. Reading all day every day and hands on experience). Hopefully interacting with some of you experienced growers will bring me on leaps and bounds and make my next grow a fair bit better than this attempt lol. Will get some pics uploaded. Any questions for me... Please just ask. Lets get this show on the road haha. Peace

have to excuse me lol. Getting use to uploading and shit. First pics there are of my grow tent. Next is bud shot of fruit auto then red poison. I will get many more pics for you guys when I take my plants out the tent to water and emptie trays. Peace

Plants look great for week 5 under cfls just into preflowers and doing pretty good considering you don't have much light.I would say half way there.

You wont see huge buds with your light setup but you will get a bag of nice buds and good smoke.

Trichome production will come later when the buds are fattening.

Good luck !

hey there mate. Cheers for the quick reply. Glad u think they look alright. I'm a bit worried that the buds ain't gonna fill out... I dunno why lol. On the dinafem fruit auto. The biggest plant of the 4, I have noticed today that the very tips on nearly every cluster of pistils are turning amber, only the very tips... I dunno how long its gonna take untill they all become amber... It kinda feels as if the end is near lol. It might be closer to 6 weeks than 5. I know the seed bank claim they are 6 weeks from seed to finish but I'm hoping for atleast another 3 due to my poor lighting. Give em chance to fatten up

* ill get the plants out shortly so you can see them properly. My dinafem fruit auto is getting yellow crispy leaves on the bottom. It alsow had claw like leaves, i flushed it with ph'd water and it seemed to carry on yellowing up th plant. I gave a low dose of nutes and seems to of slowed it down. The claw like leaves straitened out... Im kinda hoping that iv sorted it. Could it be possible that the plant is just reaching the age of naturally loosing lower leaves, or does it seem a bit early? Ill upload some trichome pics i took through a 10x loop before.

You still have a ways to go on them no matter the few amber, you are still filling out the preflowers so at least another 3-4 weeks at least, I would go 70 + days total if they were mine.

The yellowing bottom leaves can be normal as long as it don't spread upward that's N def then, but they look fine. don't overfeed Auto's are sensitive to nutes.

Keep in mind your CFL lighting is not the best for growing big buds and will take a bit longer than a good LED

Also the breeders are not using CFL lighting when they claimed 60 days so take that with a grain of salt, you will have buds in 60 days but most will take longer to finish and they put on the weight the last two weeks so yield and quality will suffer greatly if you take them early.

cheers for the reply again. The yellowing is spreading upwards but I seem to have put a stop to it now. Its not moving as fast. I was scared to give any more nitrogen as I thought they were nitrogen toxic due to clawed leaves. Iv flushed and sorted it now to.. Touch wood. Good flush then a very mild dose of nutes. I would love to grow with an LED, hopefully have the money to buy one for my next grow. Do you have an LED you recommend? I know exactly what your sayin about taking no notice of the seed company saying 6 weeks from seed lol. I'm gonna take theese babies as far as I can for most weight. I'm not an impatient grower lol. I have another 105eatt 2700k bulb to hang in the mix tomorrow... Hopefully squeeze a few extra grams out of them lol. I do have a 600w hps and 6inch extractor I got off a mate but its just way to hot in my tent... Plus the fan is way to loud lol. lED is the future for me

You might be needing some light down low ,that could be the yellowing, but I would not worry too much you are growing buds not leaves now.

And yes could be too much N doing the clawing or overwatering can cause it temporarily too.

I use the Apollo brand LED here in the states with 5 watt diodes full spectrum, Marrs makes good lights check into them or Grow Northern in the UK if you are rich :) check ebay and amazon I think they are all made in China you can order direct I think.

And LED's are the future I will never go back to those high heat energy suckers ever again.

The bigger LEDs do give off some heat though but the extractor can keep up usually, and they are pretty quiet as well.

One word of advice LED's tend to suck the Cal-mag out of cannabis, so have some on hand and use it with every watering.

ok sweet, I will check a few out. So far the ones I have wanted have been about 300 to 400 quid. A worthy investment tho I guess. I think I read somewhere that you can get 1.25grams or more per watt with LED. That's amazing! 400 watts would do me fine in my small tent lol. Grow 3 Dutch passion think different autos and get enough bud to last a while lol.

Your doing great for cfls....I would go until the leaves look like they will far off. With auto you want to hang in there as long as possible. You look like you may need 9 weeks. The buds will look huge and if your lucky sag. But other then that looking good. Makes me think about going back to cfls....my temps are crazy right now
