Hey man, could you link me to the EXACT exhaust fan that you are using??? I have issues keeping my tent under 90... sigh
Well, I am sorry but if you are living in a climate that is really hot, the exhaust fan alone do not work, at least if you are creating a lot of heat (lots of light)

It certainly helps to bring down the temps but not fully in my case.
But more importantly, when combined with a carbon filter you eradicate the odor problem. Then if it is more powerful than the intake, your co2 levels go up which is good for your plants too

I bought a portable ac unit, the ones which work with water and only use around 50 watts. It worked perfectly, it sits near my grow tent directed to its passive intake net.
The only drawback of these units is the back of the unit has to be directed to outside or a big enough room.
But I was around 90-100 and my plants were not growing or growing very slowly (which made me loose an entire month), when I put this unit into work, the grow rocketed high, my temps are around 75-85.

I hope this helps.

Strawberry Cough, 3 weeks flowering
I was thinking about purchasing a Homebox Small myself. It looks as though there will ultimately be space problems in terms of the height of the plants. Did you train or top these in any way? I was reading through the entire thread, but didn't see whether you had either way.

I wonder if 6 plants is too many for that chamber? 6-12 is what I would ideally like to be able to house in a closet with the same system and perhaps like a 150-250w mh/hps convertible ballast. How difficult has heat management been for you with this tent?

Awesome grow man, wish I had some clones of those bad bwoys... ermm... girls. +rep for the thread. Great read. Subscribed for future masturbation.

Homebox is a solid product, it does aacomplish everything it says on its package.

I think you can flower up to 9 plants in it. If you keep the lights close enough the space would not be a problem. You can have plants up to 4 feet max. The trick is to have a good layout starting with your filter and lights.

The heat management is the biggest issue here, I had to install a portable ac near to its intakes, but I must remind that I have 1000 actual watts in there and the outside temps are between 90 and 100.

I havent done any training and I grew them all from seed. Nex tie `i will try the uncle bens topping technique.

Thanks for the kind words, I ll upload some more pics in a few hours.

First off let me say INSANE GROW dude! I noticed you said you want to use more CFLs at a lower wattage to help with heat? I currently use 12 23w-27w CFls and let me tell it gets dam hot in there. Granted my lights are only a couple inches away from my plants but I'm considering using bigger CFL's like yours for my next grow to see if that help wit the heat, lol. That leads me to my question. I've read your whole thread and didn't see if you said were you got your lights from. You get them online or local and about how much were they? To me it seems if I can use less lights at bigger watts I can produce better buds and help with the heat.

Good to hear, saves me time. I already tried a little and it has some advantages and disadvantages. We can talk about that later.

The brand that I got, I dont think you can easily find the same brand and you dont have to. Just check the box, for actual wattage, how many lumens (the more the better) it produces and whether it is warm white (flowering type, reddish spectrum around 2100 to 2700k is fine) or daylight (blueish spectrum from 5700 to 6400k is fine) Mine give 4900 lumens each and are 2700k and 6400k which is good enough as you can see. Dont get stuck with grow lights or brands. that is my 2 cents.

I plan on building air cooled hood type enclosures for my next grow and try to bring the lights closer to the plants and hopefully letting the ac go, we ll see...

you really do need the veg spectrum in there to help photosynthesize. plants absorb the different spectrums and use them differently. I tried vegging my plants with 2700k's until I got my veg bulbs in the mail. and when I did this, my leaves started to lose their lush greenness and that's due to the wrong spectrum for vegging. see when you veg with the 27k's, your plants actually losing chlorophyll and thats why the leaves started losing their normal color. thats good you can get them in the sun, but if the suns at the flowering spec in 27k, it could only speed up the process. I really suggest finding some 6500k bulbs. I couldnt find any in my area so I had to get them online from www.1000bulbs.com and I got each 30watt bulb for $3.88. hope this helps and sorry for the rambling, kinda high bongsmilie

Well, your question is answered already, and I wouldnt recommend using red spectrum during veg, it will grow but will be weak and it is not worth your effort, if you re going to do it, wait some more, get the right stuff and then do it, after all, you will be spending a lot of your TIME and it is quite precious if you ask me.

Here is the update with some photos of the strawberry buds, view of the 4 plants (2 strawberry cough and 2 white widows) and then lastly my giant uncontrollable blueberry, which is around 2 weeks behind them and is as tall as the gorwbox, I couldnt keep it short with just lights, next time I ll train my blueberries.

Hey Kodomo would it be to much to ask for a pic of your watering setup it sounds pretty basic and efficient to build...as well how often do you water?

I am not putting my auto-irrigation in yet, that is for the times I am on holiday. I have been watering every two days (checking the pots weight) and giving them around 2liters each. When I started though, all of them which were nine then were getting a liter alltogether, they re getting thirsty by the day :)

Here is a pic update with pretty macro photos included:
