They got popped because feds were looking for a fugitive.

I've stolen juice in the past when I lived in Chicago, the best way was 2 meters.. Slap the dummy meter in for 14-15 days a month n cut bills in half.. I've also had hot taps that bypass meter to sub panel.. I got a buddy who got pinched ( ex girlfriend was jealous) com ed charges ya with theft of services..its a nothing charge, slap on the wrist..but WHATEVER COM ED SAYS YOU STOLE..you owe, or you can never get electric turned on in name until paid in full..they hit my guy for like 8k.. Which was probably half of what he stole.

Yeah, but these guys were a bust just waiting to happen: House full of weed, poor odor control stinking up the neighborhood, stealing electricity, and a wanted fugitive in the home. Brilliant. One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard was don't break more than one law at a time...

Yeah..these guys are sloppy and probably cop magnets.

They were only there a few months, another harvest or two and they would have been blasting bho in the living room.

Let's be thankful for idiots like this. They keep the fucking cops occupied and draw attention away from us careful growers.

Maybe where you live it is. Probably cheap in Co like where this story is from too. But here where im at in good ol' Ca, power is .35 cents a kWh now. People used to spank the power to avoid suspicion because the power company would/could turn you in. Now people spank it because it's crazy expensive, but the PoCo won't turn you in. Only if there's a warrant, will they share your power history with Leo.
With that said, you won't catch me spankin it no mo! Just grow more to offset the power overhead cost. But I ain't judging no one either.

Power is really cheap in CO, especially during the winter. I think it goes between $0.04 a kwh and $0.08 kwh.
In the Summer it near doubles, but it is still cheaper than a large chunk of the country. (With gas so cheap would running a generator be cheaper in CA?)

If you want to do a massive illegal grow in CO it is insanely easy. All you have to do is follow the rules of growing in illegal states and you will not have problems. The only problem you will have is distribution in a different state.

There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of people growing to export illegally.
Only the morons get caught.

I thought about it, gas would have to be way cheaper.

Liquid propane and natural gas are pretty expensive, probably a lil cheaper than 30 cents a kW .. But what does a generator that large cost? 50k on the low end? To run 20 lights and A.C.

Its actually cheaper than I thought, 75k watt diesel Gen is 15k ..and diesel is cheaper than nat gas or LP to buy and looks to be staying cheap for the foreseeable future.

Might be even cheaper if you could run biodiesel.

You could get a 8,000 watt solar system for a little less. Minus batteries.

Solar is Expensive to setup and nets you a higher kwh for years before you see the payback and gas for genny isnt economical. Power from the pole will always be cheaper in the long run. I have explored endlessly trying to cheaper power and in my experience you can beat the power company right now. I wish I could run all solar but the panels need would look like a solar farm!

In the long run solar would be cheaper electricity will never get any cheaper especially with all the talk about a carbon tax. But of course not many can afford solar power.

First, how do you get busted for growing in Colorado? Second, how do you have 56 POUNDS laying around?! Third, WTF are you stealing power for?! Damn these guys are dumb!
