Okay, much better !
Thanks ! lol
Wish I could rock a 4x4 tent.
If you tighten up that duct work inside the tent, your fan will thank you.

thanks for taking a look guys,

Ive thought of tightening the ducting up but I wanna know how tall the girls are gonna be first.
They one Blackberry I have is a feminized seed, the two Barneys farm blue cheese are Feminized as well, and the NYPD are just regular, the barneys farm is about two weeks old is started a week after the other three, and I have had some major isssues with these girls already, I've been battaling root rot for the past week and I think I might be making a comeback.

the way mine are set up as you can probably tell from the pics, is a small net cup actually holds the girl, and then the largernetcup that fits onto the bucket holds the smaller netcup and I use Hydroton as a filler, I do this because when they are seedlings/small clones I use a diffrent lid on the same buckets those lids hold 4 small net cups a peice. For me this makes transplanting MUCH easier for my clumsy ass.

So anyway, When I first found out about the root rot I was puzzled because tho I reused my hydroton from last go round I did sterilize it I thought, I soaked in a heavy concentration of H2O2 then boiled the hydroton, then soaked in a light bleach solouion, and then rinsed in tap water for about 48 hours, then let air dry. I did suffer from root rot on my last crop but that was human error, I had to do a transplant in hydro MID FLOWER and severely damaged the root ball.

But anyway I thought I had sterilized everything enough guess not, But what I did last time was bought this H2O2 I have now, and the SM90 which in all honesty successfully combated the root rot I had last go round, therefore these two additives are now a staple in my garden, and I have been using them both since these girls sprouted up in an effort to add dissolved O2 and prevent,....... root rot lol. and thats why I was puzzled, How can I have root rot when I have been using H2O2 on every flush as well as and nute change and maintaining H2O2 levels in my res along with SM90?

Well I went to my local hydro shop and had a chat with the guys up there, and got sold something from General Hydroponnics called Subculture B and Superthrive. was told to add a teaspoon/5gal of subculture b and 1ml per gallon of superthrive to my res but that I could not use SM90 of H2O2 with this being that subculture b is a beneficial bacteria that helps root growth and my H2O2 or SM90 would kill it. So I stopped by the market on the way home and refilled my 5 gallon R/O water jugs and when I made it home I changed out the res reset all my nutes to 590-600ppm, and then added the superthrive and subculture b, Ph'd checked then waited 24 hours to check or adjust Ph as needed.

When I came back 24 hours later the res looked like SHITE ! (sorry for launguage) and I was worried, but I decied the give it another day and see how the girls looked, cause there was a little new growth and that growth looked good. Ph adjusted them at this point and left em be .

when I came back 24 hours later, I almost cried by this point my airstones are now covered in what looked to be a geallatinous material which is seriously hampering it's ability to add O2 and my roots and I couldnt notice any new growth comming out of the net cup, and what was there was slimey.

at this pointed I was like screw it I've gotta do something so I took the girls in thier small net cup out of the buckets and I noticed NEW WHITE ROOTS.
So I decided to soak them in a H2O2 and R/O water overnight and then boiled my airstones and and hydroton again basically sterilized everything, again and ever since things seem to be looking up.. the reason for this long post was to fill you in with enough info for you to answer this question! I know... thats sneaky.

Do you think it was the H2O2 and SM90 that made the roots start to grow again, and I just couldnt see them yet?
Or do you think adding the Subculture b did the trick?
Or do you think it was the superthrive?
or the SUbculture B and Superthrive in concert with each other ?

This is important to me cause even tho I sterilized everything else I could NOT sterilize the hydroton inside the small net cup or the starter plug so I might have to deal with this again in the future and Id like ideas on what exactly it was that did the trick.

here are some pics of them at thier worst

Wish I could be of some help FeFi, but I've never used Subculture B or SM90.
Glad they look good though.
Big diff from the slim pic to LOTS of new roots !
I like your 4 pot lid to 1 pot lid transfer too ! +REP
Very good use of tools and space.
Speaking of, is that a POCKET INSIDE your tent ?
Damn, wish mine had a pocket for nick-nacks ! +REP again later.......lmao

What is the purpose of the hydrogen peroixde? Also how much, what percentage and how often do you add it?

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) does two things,
1 It sterilizes the resivioir
2 it adds oxygen to the roots

When H2O2 is introduced into the resivior the second oxygen atom breaks apart from the H2O2 becomming a radical and attaching itself to any dead organic material breaking it down into nothing thats the sterilizing part of it, when this happens it also adds oxygen (o2) to the roots.

of the stuff I get 29%H2O2 I add 3ml/gal I add it at ressy changes and once every 3-5 days
but im probably going to stop using H2O2 and use the EWC tea that heisenberg showed me
reason I edited is because I forgot to answer half of your question, and to add the part of the ewc tea

Ok So ive changed out my ressys, and while they were empty I wrapped each res in duct insulation and alumminum tape to stop any potential light leaks.

Not sure if you mentioned or not but how close is the water level to the bottom of the net pots? Just had to trash 4 plants because of root rot/slime and one reason was my water level was too close to the bottom of the net pots and not giving the roots enough space to breathe.... just a thought. Good luck, hope it works out.

I keep the roots about two to three inches from the bottom of the netpots, and on each that actually has root touching the water its literally like only one root.

thanks for the support, also just to stay on top of things, I do believe I am seeing new root growth, Ive changed out the ressys and added ewc tea per heisenbergs instructions, I also see some muddy looking stuff but it isnt much and is localized on all the girls where the root actually makes contact with the water.
I am noticing now that PH is not fluctuating, Ive sat the ph between 5.5-5.62 on each of the buckets, and my ppms were set at 400ppm I started with tap water that sat out overnight and had a starting ppm of 140 added my nutes and each bucket was at 540 give or take 10ppm I think I might neew to up the dose a little because today I notice total ppm was around 500. Ill recheck tommorrow and if the ppms drop then I know Im not feeding them enough, which if this is the case that in itself is good news cause that means they are eating again and another sign I might be winning the battle.

Seeing the roots growing inside the netcups and hydroton today perked me up a little bit. and Im also thinking me adding the duct insulation and alluminun tape to the buckets handled any potential light leaks I might have had, Im freezing some water bottles tonight to add to the ressys to keep res temps better in check as well, as I have noticed that res temps were 74.8f today.

One thing is good my max lights on temps are now 82f kinda funny during the summer max lights on temps were 76 but thats because my tent is next to the ac vent and recived cold air right next to the passive intake, and now we are running the heat instead of air... but hell 82f is quite nice too!
my night temps are about 74-76f from what I have seen, hope to keep that up as well.
I hope my experiences with this horrible dissease will at the very least show others what to do or what not to do and how to use beneficial bacteria. Im lucky enough to have gotten this info from someone who had dealt with it before and shared his knowledge and can only hope that my experiences can do the exact same for someone else.

Ill take some pics of them here in a min, Im about to twist one up and enjoy myself for a few.

Happy growing everyone!

I'd love to be able to have more space.....and time too ! lmao
Can't wait to see these babies getting plump and shit.

im betting the root rot occured from a mixure of warm res's and missed contaminates . I use a weak bleach solution to steralize , and then rinse out a few times with tap then a final RO rinse .... hope it helps ... * DWC can work in higher temps , but id reccomend keeping it lower if possible.* g'luck

missed contaminants no. Im meticulous almost obsessive compulsive about how I clean everything.
temps I dont believe were an issue, up to about five days ago I have been running the A/C and everything was cooler then as my tent sits right next to my ac vent, during the summer the tent sat at 76 max and my ressys were between 68-71 on the hottest day. but now we run the heat, so the opposite happens, my tent gets warmer, I dont feel this was the issue tho as I have had this problem since way before we switched from air to heat.
It is not root right that Im fighting, Its brown slime algae, and this stuff does not need light, and cool res temps dont matter either. and normal sterilization methods, Ie H2O2, Sm-90, Physan 20 Bleach wont do anything to it. if you use that stuff what youre gonna do is kill off any beneficial bacteria you may have competing with this shit, and leave this shit as the sole contender in your res, .... seriously, using this stuff makes brown slime algae worse.

Not trying to double post, added this info to the brown slime algae thread but thought I should add it here too, Things are looking better for my girls as you all know Im fighting that brown slime algae shit.

3 days seven hours since I innoculated the res added another cup of tea per res today

again sorry for posting in this thread and the other about the same issue, but Im doing it here to keep track of my grow.
