600 watt hps not working

just got my 600 watt hps in today I plugged it up and it stays on for 20 seconds then shuts off...wtf. is my ballast bad?

Could be Bad ballast, or bad bulb. Make sur it's the right type of bulb for the ballast hps, mh. Also make sure the bulb is the proper wattage for the ballast.

Also make sure you have proper voltage.

make sure no touching wires too is everything new?

also is it a 240 volt or 120?? that must br correct to work!!
