18" is the typical distance I would keep my HPS bulb from the top of the canopy. going closer encourages stress and the bleaching effect can be seen on your plants if too close.

what kind of reflector are you using?

what are the temperatures in your room like?

also.. some strains will just be denser than others. the ones you have listed are not what I would consider to be quality genetics... although I am a little picky when it comes to genetics and strain choices and I stay the hell away from autos and fem seeds.

pick up a pack of Bodhi gear. get something that will make a decent yielding crop with big dense nugs..like his tigersmilk any of those 88g13hp crosses.

do your best to keep the top of the canopy even.. and blow a fan over the top of the canopy..not directly on the plants. raise and lower your light as needed. keep temps as close to 70F as possible and humidity low but not too low.

it takes some trial and error but with each grow we learn what's best for us and the plant. you'll get there.

environment makes for 90% what you need to pull off a successful grow.. good genetics, patience, and a proper nutrient regiment make up for the rest.

good luck!
my thoughts as well.
in my experience fluffy buds are usually due to irregular light schedules, shitty light quality (cheap bulbs, LOW light, or wrong spectrum),or genetics.
dam 600w hps 20 inch above canopy...hopefully rest of grow will look an come out better

perhaps the bulb is old, or the reflector glass is dirty?
could be the soil/media
nutrients, genetics, airflow/co2, water quality, etc, etc.
considering you said it's all your strains I would guess it's an underlying issue.
For me personally, I haven't seen heat to be an issue, I grow indoors and out, and I've seen my temps get to 100 deg f and they don't slow down as long as you keep the soil moist.
indoors I regularly see temps in the low 90s, with no adverse issues in regards to density, my biggest issue with temps is that it accelerates the friggin reproduction rates for the myriad of mites that are in my forest.
im in soiless pro mix bx...could it be im harvesting to early?? 70 day auto was at 73 day..was a lot of cloudy with amber...got bout ounce of fluff!!? wtf...lol I ph water at 6.0

what the hell am I doing wrong?? for some reason, no dense bud,,autos and photos...all fluffy..they grow great, fast with 600w...can I have some advice plz
I've ran 600W Hort. for years. I've had rock hard buds (or not) depending on the strain. SLH was a little airy but most sativas will do that. I ran 4 plants (clones) under the 600W and got over 600 grams running HSO Blue Dream and HSO Trainwreck. I puled my hood to about 1-1.2 feet away since it's air cooled. Even my new DE-AC bulb (640W) hasn't gotten to 1 gm per watt yet so depends on the strain if you don't fuck anything else up... IMO.

I got some red hairs that show a little but yeah, most of them are gone by the time I chop.

ok heat....whats max my light should be above canopy? 2ft? room is mid 80s with light on 77 off...advice please guys...have super lemon have, delahaze wwxbb ww original...all huge at 5 weeks. still finishing up on autos.jus went to 12/12
Try not to go above 80 with lights on and not below 70 with lights off. 1500 ppm co2 level. 50% hum, and 24 to 30 inches away from light, if running 1000ks
And good air flow
