600W DWC Cabinet System - 1st Run

Just a bunch of random shots. Everything is drying nicely so far, so good. Vent system is working great.

the cabinet is cleaned and reloaded for the next run. trying 6 plants this time, 2 blue dream, 4 OG. link to thread incoming and post mortem notes asap.

Whats the final dry weight?!

We'll get final dry weight in a week or two. Wet weight above is trimmed and manicured, but big stems still on. Guessing dry weight will be around 2 - 2.5 lbs.

Some post mortem notes:

Good -

5-day cooler res
Metal tape
CAN filters
S&P fans
Coco croutons
Vegging clones in party cups
T5 2' 4-lamp fixture
1" grid scrog screen
Good water buffering knowledge
NO bugs, NO mold, NO root rot, NO pathogens. Period.
Leaving the blue dream undergrowth (above the scrog screen, below canopy) alone.

Bad -

CWP tri-meter ppm needing constant calibration
CAP timer occasionally forgetting to turn onthe veg chamber. Use the reset button and reprogram to solve this, at least so far.
No room AC
Molasses
Letting the OG undergrowth (above scrog screen, below canopy) grow.

Ugly -

Chasing PH in a very high PPM sauce
Light too close to plants during initial flower stretch
Attempting to vacuum around plants in the chamber

We learned:

The top of a flowering stalk can be light-burned, right on on the buds, to acheive a similar effect as to topping during veg. We will experiment further with this on the next grow.
All about water buffering. With liquid rock tap water here near LA, using pure tap at nearly 400ppm is too much. Similarly, there will be problems if using just straight RO. It should be best to use a blend of RO and tap water to get a starting water ppm of about 100. We will try 2 parts RO to 1 part tap on the next run.
If trouble with crazy ph swings in pure RO, cal/mag helps stabilize.
If REALLY in a pinch with dropping ph, a bit of baking soda can help both raise ph and help provide a buffer. Don't put too much of this into the sauce. Sodum can be bad.
A full day or so of darkness can really give the girls a good kick into flowering.
Great airflow from underneath the scrog screen allows us to seriously overgrow the screen without any mold or moisture problems, even when flowering in humidity of 40 - 55%.

Will certainly add more to this as I remember stuff.

How many plants did u grow in total for that yeild?

4 plants in a little less than 6 sq ft.

Got 2.8g of grade A hash from the trimmings, another 2g of not so great.

Forget about the giant yield, it's drying up to be around a pound, maybe a pound and a half, about as expected. Knew we'd lose alot of weight from an 80g stalk, but down to 14g with the stem still on? yikes!

Also have found 2 seeds in the OG so far. Barely formed, but definitely seeds. Hrm ...

Harvested at 4.5 lbs ..

dried out to .. 10.66oz. Now that's shrinkage!



Note too, this was almost all moisture weight lost. The stems left one were big ones, but they contributed surprisingly little weight.

Buds are pretty fluffy. Really need to work on density, and the seeds that I'm finding in the OG are just baffling. No male flowers found anywhere, none. No problems whatsoever with the blue dream. Could these clones have been fertilized before I even got them? Did I have something on my hands? I've picked out about half a dozen seeds so far. I don't think we've got mass seed pods or anything, but when I see a handful from the OG and NONE from the BD .. something's wrong.

Considering pulling the OG from the current grow until I can get a better cutting. Or was it just me? If you piss a plant off enough to make it hermie, it shows male flowers right? it doesn't just conjure up male chromos and poof make a seed, right? will be interesting to sprout these. maybe something nice out of this confusion.

also add to the yield about 3.5 grams of really great hash. Nice and blonde from the BD, and dark green from the OG. Great stuff.

So in the end, it's about 3 gallons of jar space and a cookie jar full of the little bits, perfect for my personal since I only vape.

Smoke report so far is excellent. I'm too much of a snob I guess, not happy with the quality but hey, it's a start. Others say this smokes and looks like top shelf stuff but I disagree. I'd give all of it a B+. Looking forward to improving the blue dream, always a personal favorite, and always a crowd pleaser. Still debating about the OG. Will likely give it one more run and see if any improvement.

Nice work phenob. Nice cab, good journal too. plus rep for being honest about the dry yield....I have a similar rig and thought how in the hell are you getting 1.5 lbs lol 10 oz.is a ounce more than I've been getting from 3 plants...I'm about do finish my first run with a co2 tank. Big difference... Crazy big ...peace

Thanks man. This cab is in flower week three now with six plants in the same space. Should be getting CO2 soon. Great to hear that I'll get a good boost from the investment.

aiming for a 1.3lb + harvest! Surely it can be accomplished once the setup is dialed in and my shaq fu improves.
