To those of you who use 600w hps in flower, and yield over 14zips per 600w, could you take me thru the distance of the light from the canopy at the onset of flower, and how you adjust thruought flowering, thanks.
My light is currently 17" from the canopy, day 8 of flwr
If you don't use 600w's with great success then stay away from here

mine are attached to the ceiling. really short plants il put on 5 gallon buckets to get em a lil closer if needed but i find 3' to just a couple inches is my wheel house.

i got a huge boss hog under 3 600w lights and she's pretty much touching the glass of all 3 hoods with no issues. i got a lot of fans moving air around and a pretty good AC unit keeping it all cold so the glass isn't even warm to the touch.

if I'm going for coverage 3' is about where id keep em. if I'm going for intensity id get em a lil closer.

Depends on how cool your room is. Obviously you want them as close as possible. If you have good ventilation and good air flow you should be able to get them as close as 8" away...sometimes closer. Easy way to see is stick your hand underneath the light right at your canopy. If it isn't hot on your hand...you can move them up a bit/light down a bit. Just use your hand/heat to judge.

Dude , there is no rule , 18 inch thing, its real easy, put them as close as you can without diminishing the over-all foot print necessary for the space your using!..

What g00sEgg said ^^^ up there. Keep 'em close if you can. Some growers raise the lights 2-3' in the last week or two though.

as written, this is for light, not heat, heat depend on a lot of factors, like size of ventilation and if you run a cool tube/hood or not and what your ambi temperatures is to begin with

EDIT: I used to have my 600W around 20" away, once I got a cool hood on it I could keep it at 12-15"

Thanks to the rest of you, not so much this guy ^
Your a dumb fuck just gonna say it since no one else will...i use a 1000 i have it in a cool tube and its about 12 inches away i.have it in a 6 in air cooled hood....u could run a 600 in a 8 inch hood and keep it 8 inches away...it depends on how big ur area is how many plants...you are the fucking noob man...u need to give us your grow conditions

erm what did I miss ?

how can it be that people argue over tiny stuff like this and with complete strangers, see it to often online, and in most cases it seems like its based on misunderstandings or some people that seems to care more about getting there opinion out then actually learning sumthing or give other people a chance to speak up there mind

but I did hope people in here would be a bit different and more relaxed and open minded, no need for this, go smoke a split instead

best of vibes

From how many plants? What conditions? C02 or no c02? C'mon man...there are so many factors...not just how close your light is.
But I was asking about that shit was I?

I'm perfectly ok with you leaving this "sight". I just asked simple questions. People are trying to explain to you that if you want big yields it doesn't just depend on how close your light is to your plants. I have a feeling you weren't old enough to be on this site anyway. Have a good life. :finger:
