just make sure u gotta fan on em to strengthen the stalks coz they will stretch buddy

put a thermometer next to the plant and if its above 30 celcius its too hot, if its within 20-30 celcius it will be all right, in fact putting it under stronger light from start won't damage it from what ive seen...on my last grow i used a 600w instead of a 2x18 cfl and the stem was allot stronger from start, a small fan or a normal table fan blowing on the weakest setting will help cool it and stimulate the plant to grow a bit stronger so i'd recomend that but from my experience id say u will do great with it as long as u stay within the numbers above.

Not true.

Without a fan they will be fine.

hes right tho, keeping a fan on it won't rly make a seedling stronger, fans only come into play when u hit the 3rd node or something. other then that fans are good to circulate air and keeping it cool since if u got many growing on the same time u want new co2 to come in and replace the oxygen the plants are producing.

Correct me if im wrong but thats what i've learned.

I would hold my hand over the tops of the plants,if you can keep your hand there comfortably for 20 seconds without it getting hot, your light is perfect.I would guess probably not much closer than 12 inches.

If you have an extra 10 bucks buy a shop light, believe it or not I know a TON of people using 4 foot shop lights to veg with, and some of them swear by budding with the warm bulbs, while vegging with the cool bulbs. I myself have had awesome luck vegging with a HO 4 footer hanging over them and a regular 4 footer screwed to the wall of the closet, aka veg room. Each is running a verilux bulb with a warm light 40 watt bulb.
I'm thinking about adding a 2 foot t5 to the bottom of the top of one of the cabinets for the plants fresh out of the clone box. That way my small plants will be on the lower shelf by themselves and less apt to get knocked over, while I'm watering the taller ones.

btw what kind of 600w do u have, is it a flowering or vegg kind of hps, or is it the mix bulb like the sonlight AGRO which does just great for both ?

a good rule of thumb is to put your hand level with top of harvest if you hand is feeling uncomfortable then its to close move the light up. you want the heat were its just comfortably warm, what can also help is a fan exhaust attached to the light fixture keeping the light cool

well i guess i' must be wrong, maybe iv e just imagined a load of grows that the plants stretched too much and fell over under hid and cfl lights!!!!! listen lads i'm telling u right now that putting a fan on from the begining means that the stalk WILL thicken and become stronger, but hey feel free to hand out potentially harmful info.

This is 3 weeks from seed under my 600 HPS, it will only continue to get bigger. They always have to be staked cause the weight of the giant buds they will produce. No need for a fan blowing on them, like I said.

Has long has the seedlings are started in tissue then put into rockwool or soil they will be fine. But i would try and get another cfl just to get the first signs of life has soon has i see life i put mine straight under a 250 watt hps and get them up to around a foot before moveing them to 600 hps for flowering.
