Happy 4/20 everyone! I'm sober as a bird on the way out the door to my last probation meeting. Gonna be some serious blunt action this evening :eyesmoke:

So, if your reading this, let me know what you think about my humble grow show!

I appreciate the compliment man.

I'm starting to get a heat issue this summer, and I knew this was gonna happen. It's getting up to 80-84 in there and it's only going to get hotter. I don't want to use as much A/C because my light is so big, and I think switching the flower closet to a 400 watt digital, I could probably just run one of the 4 inch fans, and I would be able to run my A/C. I also have a cooltube, but I don't think it would be that much cooler. I think getting a 400 watt ballast and bulb is the only thing to do.

Hello Ridinslab, I too am going with the ebbandflow system and am trying to decide weather to go with 4 or 600 watts? are you thinking now that you should have gone 400 because of the heat issue? only asking because I have to choose one or the other, cant afford both 4 and 600, going to run it in a dr120. Hope everything works out for ya! yeti

I'm in the south, and it gets 100+ here in the summer. The 600 did well during the winter months, but I think it's overkill for the space I'm using. It's 2x5x8 btw. You see how much venting I have for that thing? There's like 6 fans on. It's sitting like 83 right now with 60% humidity.

The 600 has made me use more venting, more electricity, stresses the plants, etc. I'm definitely going to get a 400 watt ballast.

Thanks for reading yeti. Stick around, the plants are showing buds this week :bigjoint:

thanks for your responce, I'm sitting here rolling ideas around in my head and I was thinking maybe about portable air conditioners? I'm not sure if its the answer but here is a site http://search.live.com/products/SF-610-Portable-Air-Conditioner/?q=portable air conditioners&p1=[CommerceService+scenario="s"+docid="1A9A77DA27A94B2FF35D"+do="1"+p="df5c7f1ba4404c05b3f423c4e307eee6"]&wf=Commerce&FORM=EECL and there is alot more units out there to choose from! this was the cheapest that I found, just an idea and thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

The main thing here is that I'm using a lot of electricity already. If I turned on my window unit, it would drop the temp to whatever I wanted, but,

a) The circuit can't take everything plus my window unit already.

b) I don't want to run anymore electricity than I already am. My bill last month was

An A/C is definitely the best way though. There's a few other things I could do, cut 6 inch exhausts, get another door and add a large louver intake, etc. But, it's gonna get really hot in my room anyways and I want my damn air! Plus, I'm done constructing, or should I say destructing.

I like the turbogarden thus far. Comes with a few bags of Coco mix, so if you want hydroton in the pots, make sure you get a big bag. Also, I plan on having 14 clones to go into it in the future, which is going to take a lot more work than growing a few large plants (in bubble buckets or something). I would get bigger pots if you don't want to keep a serious mother going.

I hear ya, you can tell I'm a rookie! I think I'm going to go with a 400 set up, still thinking about the rainforest66 or the t.g eandf?? leaning more towards the turbo, but thanks for the in-fo on the 600 I'm thinking its probally a little to much for my space also, hope to see your ladies soon. yeti

OMG Those are looking beautiful! did you go to the 400 set-up or find a way to cool them down?

Thanks brother! I'm gonna go buy a 400w ballast/bulb this weekend... I've been running my a/c, because it's starting to get HOT here. The temp stays around 80-82, so it's not too bad, but there are some light burns around the hotspot. If anyone noticed my two 4" intake holes earlier in the thread, I think I'm gonna stick a duct fan or two in there, to lower temps and humidity. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to rig my exhaust ducting this time around, I have a lot of options. Probably going to do a (filter)->(6 inch fan)->(reflector)->out arrangement. Would love to see some suggestions, working with the 2 four inch holes I have already drilled. I'm not fucking this house up anymore than I already have!

Also looking at some armoires on craigslist to turn into a stealth mother/clones area. Probably gonna run a small aero cloner next to the waterfarm. How much light am I going to need on this mom to maintain a 14 clone cycle?

:peace:

So I redid the cabinet so that I can take some clones and put them in the bottom. My thinking was, mother on top so it's closer to the fan, clones on bottom with higher humidity. Everything is going to schedule.

Anybody seen this leaf??

What I decided to do about the flowering room light is buy one of those Quantum dimmable ballasts... I can keep my 600w bulbs, just switch out the ballasts. I could dim it to 50 and 75%, should be just the ticket! 600w HPS ballast for sale

The next thing on my mind is the cloning situation. I don't really want to build something for this that does not work the first time, don't really have the time to fuck it up. I need a valid opinion on this, should I just go hothouse style with a heat mat and clonex, or something like a daisy cloner and do 2 rounds of clones? Somebody with credentials please drop a comment on this!
kiss-ass

And one more thing, is my mom going to be able to produce enough for me with the current light? I'm winging this thing if you can't tell.

Swapped out the magnetic ballast for a Quantum dimmable ballast. I played with it a little and it works fabulous. Very small and light with a couple cooling fans, the dimmer switch is great. The heat dropped a little when I turned it down.

I picked up a Root Riot tray and cubes. It came with a packet of clonex. Took a few clones, easy as cake.

Rolling a few ideas around in my head to make the flowering room cooler. First off, I'm going to cover the flood table to reduce pH swings, evaporation, and humidity. Then I'll probably create a false ceiling where the board is at, that way I can exhaust the top of my room without putting equipment in the attic. I'm pumped :hump:

Well basically I said fuck it and drilled 2 4 inch holes in the wall down low (one intake, one hood intake) and 2 in the roof (one exhaust and one hood exhaust). I saved the pieces I drilled out and I'm just gonna do the best I can to put them back in and cover it up.

When I first moved in he came over to get rid of the rats and when he got in the attic, he noticed the ducts coming out. I had everything turned off, and he was just like "Huh, why are these here?" I thought I was busted for sure, but I managed to change the topic and he left thinking that an ex-tenant used to have a dryer in his room.

Kinda risky I guess, that's why I moved all of my fans into the closet, cause I had to chop my last batch of plants and get everything out of the attic when the fucking sheet rock just collapsed one night:wall:

I guess I'll worry about it later though, my temps are spot on and very easy to control

Sketchy :-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-|:-|:-|:cry::cry:

This one looks similar. I was wondering the same thing.

Everything is coming along fine. My first roots popped out the cubes and I took some more clones. The mother is like STOP CUTTING ME. Does she look overferted? I bumped her back down to 400.

I don't have any new ones of the ebb and flow, but I can say that It sucks have 8 different strains on one nutrient dosage. A few of the Indicas look perfect and some of the more Sativa dominant plants are getting hot. They are probably 2 weeks out from harvest, I'm going to do all at once so that I can move in my clones. The Indicas are browning a little and the Sativas are just beginning to show a little. I'm working on a new vented door right now so I will take a picture once everything is straight in there.

Does my shit look like it's going to live?:joint:
