hey guys whats up. im going to be building a flower room in a 9x5 room and im undecided on what wattage and number off lights to put in there. i dont want a thousand watt as i want more sources of light spread across the room so i was wondering if i should use 2 600w or 3 400w. any input would be appreciated thanks.

a 400 HPS puts out about 50k of lumens while a 60 puts out about 90k.so 3 400s will put out 150k lumens & 2 500s will put out 180k. your call

I plan on running 2x600w 4'x6' area. That way Im getting 50w per square foot. I think because you have a much longer than wide room, I would proll opt for the 3x 400w. Get the lumen spred evenly throught the room. just my thoughts. iI dont have paractical experance yet.

I keep trying to find a way to make that work, but you just don't have enough light for a 9x5 room there. You need to be deciding between 3x 600w or 2x 1000w's. Contemplating 3x 1000w even....

Otherwise you might want to shrink the room or build it out a little smaller.

im going to have to agree. on the lower end 50wsq' is still 2250w. i would go with 3x1000w lamps or 4x600w as a minimum.

I agree, I was conceding space for walkways and access, if you want to fill that space you'll need at least 4x600w's or 3x1000w's.

The differnce is really only how much you want to to spend and how much you want to produce. Your costs are going to be pretty large unless you shrink the room. Put an 8x4 tent in your 9x5 room and get 2x600w (VERY MINIMUM and you'd be looking at 2 3x3 grows with 2 feet in the middle of "shaded space") or 2x1000w's.

Good luck, I could go on all day about what you COULD do....haha.

thanks guys but im not consdering 1000 watts at all...from personal experience it seems 400 and 600 watts are alot more efficient then 1000 watt because you can place them closer to the lights. but thanks guys ill go back to the drawing board.

The heat off the 1000 w is hard on the grow room... would consider 3 600watters, good vents and fans....
