67% of Americans want to ban assault weapons

Do we need to know about firing pins and shit like that to know they make holes in people when pointed at them and discharged? I don't give a shit what you call them. Besides it's not simply about the hardware. It's about adequate background checks for legal and mental health issues, regular licensing to validate the user is proficient in the safe use of their weapon, tracking where the weapons are to verify they are in legal ownership, legal standards for safe storage in a manner that prevents a child from being able to fire it if they get their hands on it and of course, some kinds of guns should be banned or heavily restricted. I don't know why you gun owners haven't asked for these measures and worked with lawmakers to make sure it happens. But, your time is up. The tide has turned and non-gun owners along with the many gun owners who do support more restrictive gun owner laws will just do it without you. You can go back to sleep now.

Once systematic gun control measures are in place, it won't be so bad. As long as you follow the law, you can keep your guns. You might even thank us for doing the work you should have done.
Never said I was against background checks. But come on. Let's be real here. If there's no background to check, then what?

You going to invent a probe to stick up someones butt that tells you if they're a psychopath or not?

so when people see you saying GO BACK TO FAKE JEW SCHOOL!" and "try copping drugs in the city with a white face. they will arrest you and leave the black', there is no way they would think 'gee that motherfucker is a racist jew-hating shitbag'.

exactly !

Like we dont already ask the loonie ssri young adults if they are of sound mind or not right as they build their cache of weapons.... as if a mentally ill drugged guy would ever lie about such a thing. what will a background check do again? what type of back ground check are we talking about?
takes days sometimes to buy assault rifles until they get to know you at Scotty's in Marlette.
Look at their selection, from cigs to ice cream to baby formula to guns and doughnuts. https://foursquare.com/v/scotts-quick-stop/4c1e72658b3aa593ea199c5f

Good point. That's why background checks are just for starters. Regular demonstration of proficient safe use of the weapon resulting in a license that is renewed periodically, just like the one you need to have to operate another potentially dangerous device, your car. Also similar to your car, a registration and tracking system for the firearm to verify the weapon hasn't fallen into criminal hands, requirements that the gun owner store the weapon in a safe manner with trigger locks in order to keep a gun out of child's hands, along with bans on a few types of guns and heavy restrictions on a few others.

It's too bad that gun owners couldn't have been the ones who demanded this happen. Also, I'm not optimistic that it will all happen or happen all at once but you have to see that the above is all much more sane than turning schools and every other public place into high security zones.

I realize that this sounds onerous but really it's not and won't seem that bad once its in place.

Right. Your pea shooter is going to protect you from tanks. LOL Good point.

Actually the best defense from tyrants like Mao is the active use of the vote and an informed public, kind of like what's happening in opposition of the authoritarian right wing Republican government.
Left wing, right wing, chicken wing all the same corrupt. America is rotten to the core and beyond saving. Y'all do what y'all want, my people will take care of ourselves.

We already have tracking systems for stolen guns. I had two guns stolen from my 6 years ago and the sherriff call me every two years to check in if I ever found them/heard anything.

As far as banning a few types of guns, that's where you lose me. Because that statement = ignorance. Whether it's a .22 or a .50 it can do damage. Banning one type of gun will do nothing. Hell, my 6.5 creedmoor is a hell of a lot more deadly than my AR-15 if you ask me. Can plink something from 500+ yards all day with that. And that's a bolt action.

Nice leap in logic there bud. It is cute to see you accuse others of ignorance while making the unfounded claim that banning a certain type of gun "will do nothing". Red state "logic" is fun to watch.

While we are at it, saying that the sheriff following up on your stolen guns is evidence of adequate tracking is a hoot.

Welcome new member. Get your ass back over to GC twostrokenut. I am having fun taunting you fascists there too.

You literally only talked shit... no actual rebuttal. Can you prove banning one type of gun will actually do something? Why is one gun more lethal than another?

Have you ever shot a gun? Do you own a gun? Or are you one of those folks that just like to cry about something. I'm not a conservative btw, I just think people that complain about guns are about as ignorant as it gets. Look into actual statistics. When you take away the fact over half of gun deaths are suicide, and most murders are in 5 cities specifically, you're left with next to no one killing people with their guns. The 300+ million guns.

We already have bans on automatic rifles. Not many of those are around any more. Perhaps you are right. Perhaps the ban should be on all semiautomatic weapons. Regarding deadly effect of any firearm, bolt action or not, well yeah. The difference is firing rate and skill required to use it. Also licensing, better background checks, gun registration, tracking system and so forth.

Your example of a tracking system where the sheriff calls you to ask if you've found it. Laughable. The whole system needs to be reworked, better funded and given teeth. For example, a gun that is stolen from your house had better have been locked away in a gun safe with evidence that the safe was broken into or your ass would be held liable. Something like that. I'm not talking about more of the same of what we are doing now.

How do you propose a ban on all semi-automatic weapons? You going to volunteer to go door to door and collect them? Even in WW1, a stand issue bolt action rifle was rated to be fired 20 times in one minute.

What fairy tail word do you people live in that banning a semi-automatic weapon will stop criminals from using them?
