I have always been confused how the white evangelical vote supports republican ideals and the fuck the poor mentality.

The opposite of what would Jesus do.

If the earth is 10,000 years old look after Jesus's peeps.

You know....the poor, down trodden etc.

Why the hell dont you have a national health care plan?

Several right leaning Christian groups have spoke out against the policy of separating families of detainees. They may want to send them home, but they don't like young kids being housed in jail like conditions. Forty Five knows this, and is using the kids to put pressure on Congress to pass funding for his wall.

Its backfiring. I just read an article about the Southern Baptist Convention. The closeted pedophile and the abuse condoner were voted out of leadership. The younger generation is starting to become the majority and they've taken note of the hypocrisy and corruption that have taken place since the SBC became a political tool.

I'm not a fan of organized religion but give some of them credit, even they have had enough of the orange traitor.

A different article but covering a lot of the same ground.

They just condemned the alt-right as unchristian. Its slowly happening and the treatment of refugee children is the tipping point. Once the evidence of his petty corruption becomes public they wont have a choice but to denounce him.

You know, I was arguing with a couple of those idiots using the exact same point.

That Jesus wouldn't approve of their ideas and that he supported the poor.

And all they did was bring up outlier stories about Nicodemus and other biblical rich people.

They twist the truth to suit their disgusting political beliefs. And it must be cool to bang other girls than your wife.

2 "He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Matthew 18: 2 - 5

@Sour Wreck

I believe there is a change coming. The old are dying out and these racist incels can't procreate.

these are my favorite 2 paragraphs

For more than a decade, the denomination has been experiencing precipitous decline by almost every metric. Baptisms are at a 70-year low, and Sunday attendance is at a 20-year low. Southern Baptist churches lost almost 80,000 members from 2016 to 2017 and they have hemorrhaged a whopping one million members since 2003. For years, Southern Baptists have criticized more liberal denominations for their declines, but their own trends are now running parallel. The next crop of leaders knows something must be done.

“Southern Baptists thought that if they became more conservative, their growth would continue unabated. But they couldn’t outrun the demographics and hold the decline at bay,” said Leonard. “Classic fundamentalist old-guard churches are either dead or dying, and the younger generation is realizing that the old way of articulating the gospel is turning away more people than it is attracting. “

with that said, 81% voted for him and at least 75% still support him. i will believe this change is real when we start seeing changes in polls and repuiblitards standing up to cheeto jesus...

White evangelical Christians will not offer protection to brown Christians fleeing the Land of Christ due to insufferable local conditions created by White Evangelical Christians
..everyday we live in new horror over what is next. we're not used to this shite and it's taking it's toll on the citizens. it's wearing people down..every day a new jolt of adrenaline and if we don't watch it who knows what he's up to? i found something interesting happening..noone will speak his name or talk of daily news unless its not political..an eerie quiet. stopped by 7/11 for coffee every morning..everyone is quiet and polite- it used to be 'lively'..now it's like The Wall video.

what makes me feel better is i go to a place in my mind and i'm taking dagger lessons with the needle dagger i've purchased. this way i feel that i have some control left.

i hope our allies realize this is not the american people and that we're being held hostage by Christianity something our Framer would be freaking if they knew..

I think the Bible story thats most obvious and so insanely parallel, is this:

Joseph and Mary fled to the country of egypt to save their little baby from being murdered back home...

Now that sounds like they sought asylum to me...

Now that sounds similar to the same reason most of these folks have fled here for...

fucking hypocrites

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)

He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. (Deuteronomy 10:18-19)

Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. (Ezekiel 16:49)

Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt. (Exodus 23:9)

No stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler. (Job 31:32)

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ (Matthew 25:25-36)

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14)

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14)

He asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:29-37)
