6x CFL + 1x 150W HPS, 2 plants, chem-4, indoor, potting soil, Wardrobe box

I have an advice thread in the CFL section but this is just for me (love this grow journals forum too... awesome sauce). I'll be tracking day by day for the most part. So far the plants are about 3.1 weeks old. They'll get at least another week of veg. After that, it'll be up to the advice I get and a bit of trial and error.

All the yellow-y pics with lines are after the HPS install. The pulsing of the HPS drives my phone camera crazy. Sorry for that... you'll live.

so the title pretty well tells you what's up with the setup. I have 2 oaksterdam chem-4 clones in a U-Haul wardrobe box.

I've made it to the 2nd transplant and they're doing ok. Looking a little stressed right now but they'll get better.

Using coco surrounded by OSH potting soil + perlite and a generic chemical nute. 2 layers of 1" gravel for drainage at the bottom of the bin. The whole project keeps evolving as I pick up and implement the tips and advice from all the folks here. So far I've invested about 250 bucks into the whole thing so if I get an ounce from it, I call that a profit. Anything over an ounce is pure gravy. I'd like to net 3-4 ounces but I highly doubt that will happen.

said screw it and picked up a 150W HPS kit. < 100 bucks rocked.



All of these were taken yesterday at the same basic time while I was installing the new lights and embiggenating the fan ports.

What did you pay for that lighting fixture? 100?

Nice setup...reminds me of mine without the HPS

fixture + light timer was 100 flat.

Today. They've perked up a tad. Growth continues even if they're still a tad droopy. The soil continues to dry out but is still quite moist. The fan is helping and it's drying out nice and evenly. With all the water in play and with the lights running 18/6 instead of 24/0 there's a lot of room for mold to find a way to start so I've hit the plant and spoil with a anti-fungal to make sure nothing gets started.

Some fan leaves are a little yellow but I'm calling that transplant shock. If I should be doing something else, LMK.

Are you vegging under the HPS? If so I think you need more of the 6500k cfl daylight type. It looks like you have the 2700k soft white type. Daylight has more of the blue spectrum needed for vegging. Look at my pic and you can clearly see the difference in lights.
My plants always droop at night but are up and perky before the lights go on. It's like they know when the light is gonna start.

Yeah. I have a mix of 6500's and 2700's as far as I recall. They're VERY different colors of light to my eyes. I'll check again tonight.

After looking this morning... I think they're dying. I'm feeling like I'm going to have to pull em up and try again.

Please see my other thread for continuity. We had a bit of death and dying and some not so much dead and a little bit of new things. Fun read.
