The problem is that it uses the luxim metal halide plasma light engine and not the sulphur plasma that we(me) are waiting for. The luxim engine puts out a pretty good spectrum and could be killer for some serious veg, but it lacks the red side of the spectrum for a full and maximized flower, hence why you see their top model comes with red spectrum LEDs, to provide the missing spectrum.

Pretty expensive light for some LEDs and a light designed to replace steet lamps affordably.

Still seeing new technology is such good news for us, but they can't all be winners.

Im just spreading information.
These are way of my budget.

Any comments or other thoughts on this light?

There a thread about 5 topics down 5 pages long about various plasma lights, much on this one itself. Until they drop the price, not sure he many bites they will get as the coverage area is relatively small for that price tag.

I agree with you 100% but luxim came out with a Argon gas metal halide for horticulture. Also International Plasma lighting came out with a "affordable" lighting ($10,000) lol but its a true sulfer plasma emitter.
why spend 7k when i can spend $1200 from www.monstergardens.com and put 500w+ LED's in there with Bloom t5's enhance it even more ;) i dislike the solar genesis VI ( just my opinion ) ;) cant wait for improvements in this field. this this will grow some Good pot this $7000 or not you will love it in the end lol i would hold off, the light rails from international plasma lighting are going to be SICK!! Replace 6 HID with one Plasma at 60% better efficiency then one 1000W alone!!!!

Why spend even $1,200 at monstergardens (overpriced store) on one light? Buy 4 1000w HPS kits with that money and actually grow colas not just nugs!

You dont understand lol... that $1200 dollar light will last me up to 11 years before i need to change a bulb..... Also HPS are not the choice anymore.... 500 watts of LED can now compare to 600wHPS
Your 4 x 1000w HPS kits will cost you 20x the money as 4 x G2 Plasma and to boot that 288watt plasma light grew cucumbers, tomatoes... everything way better then MH+HPS now going full HPS is a waste all together to me anyways....
I can go with the spectra 500 and G2 Plasma and get over 1gram per watt. The closest thing to the sun... Look at the spectrum of a HPS...
Irishboy grew almost 600grams on LEDs with 4 plants i believe it was 600watts of LED
Thats a good yeild, i would call them colas since they are bigger then the guys arm....... more resin denser nugs ...more THC/CBD.... i would spend the extra money on LED.. so fuck ya ill spend it on plasma too since ill be using my same bulbs 6+ years down the road

** i said light rails in the last post, what i ment was Light Pipes for sulfur plasma systems ***

I agree Completely LED technology is excuse the pun "growing" due to the fact the market is looking for more efficient types of lighting. Look at tv's old "Cathode ray tubes" make way to LED and Plasma style lighting because of their color reproduction capabilities and $/lumen plasma is very efficient.. and led is very accurate in color production. the winner will be the one that can produce more PAR. LED like the CREE XR-E & XG EMITTERS produce the highest PAR values i can find anywhere! Written down anyways! Led will Win in the short term long term maybe plasma but the heat issue will be there for plasma.. Once LED steps down in price about $.5/watt well be talking a major shift.

this maybe the newest and best technology, but sombody is definitly taking advantage of it for 7000 dollars. how the fuck could that thing cost 7000 dollars to build? its got 99 cent computer fans. does it contain plutonium or some precious metal only found on the moon?! what is the point of watering the light? so its waterproof, or managed to keep the light working for 2 minutes while he soaked his light and closet with a hose. i just got a brainstorm. make a light with 1 led, give it a new name such as "super duper light" and then sell it for 7000 dollars. im sure i could scam a few peeple.

7000$ WOOOOOOW i wouldnt wayste my time on something like that ever unless of course the dam thing jumped off the light hangers every night and creeped into my room and gave me a killer blow job lol im with the guy up above whats it got some crazy moon metal on it? did they extract some crazy shit from mars and have aliens build it hahaha? hell i spent a tad more than that on 6 hps's and a entire flowr and veg room! can this light grow a massive crop on its own? what is it comparable to a 1000 watt hps or something??

NO it is not comparable to a 1000W HPS or Something. its not the same kind of light therefore you dont need as many watts to achieve the same PAR. These bulbs provide the SAME spectrum as the SUN something MH and HPS CANNOT DO. if you can accurately provide the full spectrum of light with a high intensity the lumens no longer matter.

I get that whole bit but there has to be a coverage area of some sort that's what I'm getting at not lumen output, basically what I'm saying is unless I can stick this bad boy in the center of a 12x12 room and throw 30 plants under it with a awesome yield it's just not worth 7000 hard earned bucks, prably isn't even if it could cover that space efficiently

This bulb type has plenty of potential.. from what i can find these bulbs have a better penetration coefficient because of the radiant energy. From the videos and tests you can probably do a 6x6 room no problems.
Here is some info From LG PLS systems same technology same plasma generation color etc.

That's a cute argument if you keep a light for 11 years. You fail to figure that when this technology is properly made and marketed that in 2 years we will be buying it for HPS prices and you'll have paid 10x the price for something instead.

It may be better technology, your just paying the early adopter fees similar to something like an iPad. ;) Oh no, I have to replace a $30 bulb every year right now, waaaaah. :) $30 x 11 = $300 which is STILL a lell of a lot cheaper than $1200.

Show me where the math makes me spend 20x the money. We shall then laugh at your math since it isnt possible. :)

Interesting technology. But the cost/benefit ratio just isn't there.

Remember when Plasma and LCD TVs were $15,000... Same idea.

$7000 for 1000w lamp just ain't happening. @$130/lamp per year, plus $500 for ballast and hood, over 11 years, you're still only looking at $2000.
(Apparently I pay more than research kitty for lamps.)

I buy lamps off of eBay. They are waaaaaay cheaper than a Hydro store. :) $30-$35 tops for 1000w hps 140k lumens etc. Ballasts are $110 and reflectors are $120 or so for the C.A.P. variety.
