Just wanted to let you know that the power supply you have for your fans is fine. The mA rating of a power supply is a maximum, you could have a billion mA power supply and your three fans would be perfectly happy. Going too low would be the problem you would run into.

This is an awesome thread,my buddy is doin one in his tower with cfl.I like the hps idea in the tower....now im off to find an old tower.....

are you able to lower and raise your hps?

did you git a new watch or somethin? why is it chillin there in pictures 2 and 7.

nice job man. one thing i noticed though was that you dont have the bulb base grounded. you should really ground yer base to the pc case. just strap it down with metal strapping and bolts. and also the ballast transformer should be grounded. then bolt the green wire from the plug to the PC case as well. cuz if for some reason those splice caps come off (or melt off) and the live wire touches your case. yer gonna get a nice zap the next time you visit your garden. or start a fire.

its sounds stupid but man, its good practice. always ground your circuits. you should have housing for that ballast, too. so you can ground it

if you wired real HID lights like that you'd kill yourself


also, i do agree with you about being able to pull off a nice grow with a setup live yours. its a great, rewarding hobby and the best of luck to you!

Im glad im inspiring others to grow in pc's too....its fun and deff a learning experiance......As for moving the light it can be done with no problems....right now I have the seedlings in a tuperware container which will be there home for the remainder of the grow....and they are stacked on a few dvd cases so I can get them close enough to prevent streching and far enough to prevent the hps from burning them....so far so good....pics tommorow.........

having made it half way through a pc grow I would really look at the scrog option. It will be what I try the second time through

creativemind21 do you think you would be able to tell/show me how you wired that im thinking of doing the same thing.

i love these micro grows! i want to maybe set up a small rubbermaid or box, about the size of a tower, and throw some rooted clones right into flower for maybe a sea of green method just for fun. a scrog would be fun too.

i may even try a little shallow water culture bubbler! micro hydro =)

well man good luck, i would just check ur seedlings very often to make sure they arnt burnt. i just have 4 more lil' ones sprout so im soooo exicted, i woke up and BAM!! they were popping there heads out. i bet urs are going to grow better than mine though, . ha.

Cearid thats what im thinking of doing for this grow....scrogging with a small screen just enough for 2 plants

Felix not a bad idea by any means I have seen 2 rubbermaid tote boxes stacked on top of each other and wired with an 150hps inside and it produced some quality shit........over 2 oz for 2 plants

Thanks raeman but no worries here..... my hps is being cooled quite nicely by the 3 fans.....temps are staying around 78 deg.......so the fans are doing there job...lol....Are you doing a pc grow too...if so imho.....I wouldnt try to pop that many seeds I think 2 is really pushing it after 2 it can become a serious problem in there even with lsting and scrogging......imho the k.i.s.s method is the best here......Im also looking to do a small dwc micro pc grow after this one in dedication to Kp that one is for you babes....lol.....

now the only question that remains about scrog-ing is to determine whether you are going to use chiken wire, crab trap netting or run string in a criss-cross pattern inside your pc.
Chicken wire seems to be the norm for people growing in closets but a pc is on such a micro-scale that you may need something smaller than chicken wire
