8ft x 7ft x 7ft shed electrics advise please

Hello everyone I'm converting my brick shed as my new grow room I'm goin to insulate with bubble rap and a 100mm kingspan insulation all round then 18mm ply over the top venterlation outlet goin under ground out to the back of garden in bush! I'm going to run 2 x 600s in there !the shed has electric but I need more sockets as theres a double socket and a single thats it an i need 2 for lights 2 for 4pot wilmas 2 for the water heaters 2 for the fans 2 for tube heating and no doubt a few more lol I found a box with a red light on it with an on off switch that must run the shed any help on how to add more sockets would be great thanks peeps

I second that, GET AN ELECTRICIAN to help you out as you obviously know nothing about running an electrical supply. Here in Ca. every year there are dozens of houses and structures burnt to the ground because somebody thought they knew what they where doing. Electricity is DANGEROUS to mess with if you have know clue.

Also if you did build it and it caught fire, the insurance company will NOT pay out for damages from bad wiring.

Do you know how to figure total load reqired for your setup?
Do you know what your available max load is?
Do you know what minimum wire sizes for distribution should be?
How far away is the nearest breaker box? And do you have enough extra current availabe to wire up your grow room or will it overload the system? Can you figure it out?

GET SOMEBODY WHO CAN DO THESE THINGS.

Its all about safety.

This sounds bloody complicated ok an electrician it is any body got any idea how this would cost and should I insulate before I call the electrician or after? and what can i say to them becoz can't say what I'm using it for ect thanks!

And how can i find how much power is going to my shed all ready??

to be honest if your gonna be using that much power in an outhouse type building your gonna attract some suspicion, you need to work out how much power draw your going to be using then check if your home breaker box can take the extra power draw, if not you will need to get a seperate breaker installed. you would be looking at a few hundred for the job. over the 500 mark though if you want a decent install. try to use a local guy rather than a nationwide company as they will ask less questions. use the converting to a laundry room/larder excuse as there would be a lot of high power electricals going into a room like that i:e: fridge/chest freezer, washer/dryer, wine cooling cabinet.

If u have the know how....run new wires from the box to the shed run 2 120 lines on 20 amp breakers and each line put a 4 plug box in for each line it should work I run 2 1000 s a dehumidifier inline fan regular fan and heater with no problems ...
or run a 240 volt line out there to a sub panel and run ur outlets from the panel at shed....
how many amps total are the two heaters and lights and that will tell u what u need

Tell. Them it's for a work shop with a welder air compressor saws etc few will question that

Look at ur breaker box it might be labeled shed or something describing where. A lot of people label wich breaker is going where and on breaker should tell u

Can u c the line coming in it might be piggy backed, ur line probly comes to ur double socket and pig tailed of to a single socket, I re- read ur post with all those sockets I would run 240 volt line to a sub panel and run ur plugs from the sub panel at shed will be the safer bet imo

I was going to put 2 x 4 ft tube heaters 200w each there suppose to be cheap to run can't find amps but my 2 x 600w lumateks are drawing 5.52 amps each if that's any help thanks mate

Ok mate il have a look on that if I done it in soil and had 2 x 600w hps, extractor , 12" fan , 2 x tube heaters would that make it Easyer lol

My shed 8 ft away from my house the electrics come out above the back door into a little white box with a red light and an on off switch then 3wires come out ones for a light one for a double socket and one for a single socket!

your better doing what method2mymadness said. runs a 240 line into a seperate breaker in the shed and run as many sockets as you need in there. 3 doubles should be fine for you setup but its better to have more then not enough. go for 4 doubles

Ok mate thanks for the help I'm still goin to need an electrician tho unless this is an easy job but I'm thinking I'd rather be safe then sorry lol!

And if I did it this way could I do hydro with them extra sockets?? Thanks

Been lookin in the shed and i turned that switch off with the red light but that doesn't shut the power off to the shed!

then its not a seperate breaker. its just an extension, get a sparky in to get a quote.

What size sub panle do you guys rekon 40-50 amp?? Any ideas where I can vent to as guna go under ground about 2ft then away from shed but won't the helis see the hot air it will be vented about 12ft away! Thanks
