9, 40, or 45

I've carried all three, carried a full size 1911, then a 40.

I'm a 9mm guy now. Itttle guns with lots of rounds.

I've harvested deer with the 40 and 45, I wasn't impressed at all...

I finished a lot of deer up close with a 9 mm it does just as well.
Everything limited to 10 here. Why the swap to 9?

What did you find?
The cliff notes version is that in any realistic self defense scenario, for me, the order of importance is:

99.9999% how quickly I unholster/how well I shoot my weapon.
0.00001% ballistic impact differential in 9mm, .40, .45.

The odds of a scenario in which 9mm P++ would not stop a target that .45 would is slim enough that I simply did not consider it at all.

9mm Beretta 92FS

Never jams, fixed site, comfortable grip.
Camping out one night with friends I hit a nickle straight center
at 20 yards first shot.

The Beretta 92FS has been setting the standards for best military, police and tactical pistol for over a quarter century. The reason is that it was designed--and has kept evolving--to be and remain the most accurate, durable and reliable semi auto handgun on the market.

I’m actually looking at the 85bb for my mom haha. My favorite running currently is hks p7m10, but looking into this he usp for the drop in weight.

Ime there is a very large difference in ballistics between 9/40/45, especially at super and then super long range. The plus p 9mm sort of seems
Weird to me because you’re essentially paying a bit extra to get the rounds closer to 40 ballistics and doing more damage to the gun over time based on the increased pressure/power of the load.

also, 9+p seems to penetrate a lot more with less expansion in most ballistics tests I’ve seen, which isn’t really what you want in populated areas.

but I agree 100%, find the tool that works for you in your situation. 9s are definitely cheaper in every way than 40/45

Not only are the nines cheaper, there a lot lighter

Starts to make a difference when you get older on the back

They’re lighter until you stick twice as many rounds in them I think. Frame/body wise, weight Of companies modes in diff Deere tank calibers tend to be pretty close to identical. Aside from some 45s/10mm because they actually need more mass to control the loads as far as I understand.
