9 cob light heat level

Can someone tell me how much heat 9 cobs will produce? It's for a 4x4 area.
You can ask this in the thread you already started too, instead of starting a new thread for every question. To answer your question however a person would need to know what cobs and driver you are using. Regardless of what type of light, 400w of power will create about the same amount of heat. You can do things like mount your driver outside your tent or have solid air exchange to reduce temps. Having a dimmer on your lights also enables you to adjust temps.

Sorry I didn't think before making this thread. I'm going the led route because my 1ks are heating my grow space up too much. So with 9 cobs @ 50 watt each I will be looking at roughly the heat of a 400 watt hid?

9 x 50W = 450W. This will be your heat load. The efficiency of COB LED will show itself by increased light intensity per watt of unit power vs other light sources.

This means that you'll need fewer Watts to reach a given level of lighting with a week designed LED light fixture than with light bulbs of whatever type. That's your savings, right there.

I think you'll need closer to 600W of COB LED lighting running at 50W per chip to equal a 1000W HPS lamp.

Another thing to consider is that HPS produces alot of IR and led's don't. I believe that fact and the higher efficacy of led's converting power to light are also a factor.

I think you're right. This is why somewhat warmer temperatures work so well for LED grows.
