a 400 and a 600... how would you set them up?

Hi all,

I currently have a 400 and 600 HPS light in my possession. If I had plants of differing age (from clone to end of flower period) which order would you start them. 600 when they're younger and 400 to finish them? Or 400 to start and 600 to finish them?

If you can handle the heat and cost. Just run the 600 now then add the 400 in as well later at lets say, flowering for a 1k total. To answer your question though, lower wattage on younger plants. 4 and 6 together to finish if that’s your option.

For years I’ve run a 400w MH for veg and a 600w HPS for flowering. You can use HPS for veg but the MH gives nice tight nodal spacing which usually equates to nice fat colas down the road. You should not need to change the ballast to run MH. I would run 2 tents/grow spaces perpetually: one for veg the other for flowering. If you have the space make the flower area at least 1/3 larger than the veg area.
