A change of plans, need some questions answered

Ok, so recently shit hit the fan for me and I can no longer set up a room at my place. Roommate issues, they suck. Now I'm left with six-months of in-depth research wasted and countless hours planning totally torn down. Oh well, I new this was a possibility, and my own grow will be on hold for no less than a year, at this point.

I still want to ge the experience of growing, though. I'm a medical patient, near LA, and I know the local hydro shops stay in business somehow, so someone's gotta be growing.

MY question is this: how hard would it be to find someone who would let me learn with them, and possibly grow a few of my own under their lights? I would be willing to pay a decent amount, as well as do whatever and any maintenance that is needed throughout the grow. I want to learn how to grow my own, and all I'd ask at the end would be enough to last me until the end of the next one...this would, ideally, be for a series of two-three grows.

I dunno know how common of a question this is, or if it's really ok to ask it; i feel dodgy asking it. It just seems like the best option between this, investing $1200 to grow tomatoes and herbs (which I know NOTHING about), or not growing at all.

And I don't want any offers. I just want advice.

Its a hard one....I had to wait until I had my own space before I could start my journey with indoor gardening and I'm loving it....maybe you need to keep your eye out for a small affordable place to live on your own or 1 other who wants to share,,, but be careful about who you grow with.its way better that no one knows what you are doing....good luck with that.....

Yeah, I had a plan set-up, and last minute my roommate said "no". I can't afford to move at this point, and I cannot grow at home (even in a PC cab), due to my roommate's girlfriend throwing a bitchfit and tipping my landlord off.

Since I have a card, I have access to quite a few knowledgeable people. But before I approach them, I wanted to know if this was a typical or atypical thing to ask. All I'm looking to do is get my feet wet before I have a chance to set one up myself. If it were more convenient, I would just enroll in Oaksterdam, but I would prefer to do it this way.
