HEHE I envy you with that monster of a light you've got. It's MH right? with a little bit of red or something?? If I had your setup I wouldn't bother with cfl's, unless you like to experiment.
It is a monster - i won't deny it.

It is a dual-spectrum HID. It has a 400w MH bulb and a 600w HPS bulb in the same reflector powered by the same ballast.
Here it is in all its glory

i call this one - Fiat Lux! (let there be light)

a link is easy - just copy from the address bar in your browser and paste into a post. so copy your grow journals home page so when you paste, you'll paste the URL.

Go to
My Rollitup (upper left hand navigation)
Control Panel > Edit Signature

Paste in your grow journal URL

Save Signature

done
ahhhh, thxs:mrgreen:

Oh quick question, thinking of getting a co2 extinguisher tomorrow for co2 supplementation, do you think it's worth it for cfl? I've heard it's only worth it for HID, I know the key to a good grow is for everything to be in balance, so do you think it will make a noticeable difference?

I also heard CO2 works well only with high temps and proper regulation.
But i honestly have no clue - never used it or did much research on it.

Jesus Christ! is what God himself would of said if he saw that. I thought it was just a 600w, now you tell me it's 400w MH and 600w HPS!!!

Looks like Neo opening the door to the machine mainframe!:blsmoke::mrgreen:

i have a shot of the ballast and bulbs - i think in the first page of my grow journal - i don't want to hog your thread with my pictures

Urm, not to bad actually. I'm in the South East and i get it directly from the grower so i never really have trouble. Just thinking growing would be cool & cheaper, nothing like smoking your own. So, its bad across your way? I always seem to see people blaze up when iv been in Cornwall, but that was a while ago. Ah well, more encouragement to grow i guess?

hey titania, very nice grow, your plants are very healthy, have any of them started to show any bud?

mine are coming along nicely there under a 250w blue envirolite and are 22 days old now

No buds yet, although the pistils have come out in force. I'm hoping to get some relatively dense bud, and build up the lower bud sites by keeping them short.:blsmoke:

hey titania, i've got a 150w daylight cfl i'm gonna experiment with...thinking about getting something red for flowering, but not sure yet.

gonna be very similar to this, International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - My Box Set Up, inside tubs and everything. good luck, i'll be watching.
That 150w will do you nicely for veg, but you're going to want a red for flowering of higher wattage, can I recommend a HPS is you have the space and $.

From what ive read you need a optimal of 3000 lumen psf to enrich with co2.

actually, this is just a project. i have a 430w hps already blooming two AK48s and one very sativa serious seed's bubblegum. should be interesting. just killed two males of my only D39 of reservoir's seeds i had going and also all of my WW plants as they were all males too...bummer.

the project is using two feminized arjan's ultra haze #1. they are stinky! lol i hope to add just a couple maybe 42w 2700k CFLs...not sure yet, but i'm am sure i have time to decide as these are supposedly gonna flower for like 10 weeks! jeez, too long, but should be worth it. may move to the 430w after the others finish.

anyways, your grow is pretty cool. i really like smaller grows. i need to start some soil grows as hydro is like watching after a newborn. good luck though! it's looking good for you.

Thanks Felix, I wish I could experiment like you're doing. So you have a HPS, it will be interesting comparing the results with your cfl grow. Bummer on the males, did you not think of getting any pollen out of them? I've never done hydro as I've heard it is high maintenance, and that's not what I like. Looks like you're sorted, enjoy your homegrown and good luck mate.:blsmoke:

Day 17 of 12/12.

Pistils everywhere, and thickerning out from the centre nicely.
Haven't given the nutes since I over did it with the foliar feed a week ago.

Slow, but steady progress.

Getting some Co2 tomorrow.

Temps a lil high, 28c is the norm.

Ah.. finally a CFL set-up. I've been looking into one of these for the longest time. It is a pity that the volume of the grow space is so limited.. and these lights are basically in the infant stages of R&D. I'd like to see what these self-ballasted puppies do in the coming years.

MH and HPS put out so much heat that they have to be placed so far about the plants that the light energy is being lost exponentially over that distance (Inverse Square Law).

Again, it is good to see this thread (subscribed for future viewing) to see the results. Sorry to hear about the chemical burn though.. ya gotta remember, the soil will hold nutrients much longer than a hydro or aero set-up. Be carefull not to strain them too much.. hermies are a b*tch.
