A different curing method?

Hey guys,

I've been thinking of many ways to cure my stuff once I finish my first grow. I must have read, seen (youtube) and heard a billion different ways, but I'm thinking of the billion and 1st way!..haha

If I put my stuff into one of those rubbermaid containers (used to store food) after I hang dry for like a day and place a layer of rice on the bottom while keeping the cover on...Usually these covers come with a center piece that you can pop in to let the food cool off..I will leave that open. Basically liek a cover with a few small holes in the top. Then, I run my mini ionizer...it uses UV rays and has a mini carbon filter to clean the air and kill bacteria and virus'...so reduces the chance of mold. I actually use it as a backup device to filter the air from the room after the air leaves the tent...I use a real carbon filter for the tent, so most of the stink is gone anyway.

Do you think this would work?

I've never heard of people using rice for this method, but for other things like getting a cell phone drenched in water...the solution is rice as it absorbs the moisture much easier. I figure why not MJ?

I'm no expert but i'm with Alexander, UV degrades your THC. When curing you want to store it in a dark place, which makes me skeptical of the UV light. The only other thing I would note is that some people have claimed a taste difference when using plastic tupperware to cure rather than glass jars. But this might also be due to the fact that plastic is more porous than glass, so it is harder to achieve a perfect seal in which to allow the curing process to take place. Therefore, its possibly those who claim a difference in taste may have passed below the point of cure before they realized, which ultimately affected the taste.

As far as rice, I know that it works great for pulling moisture out of food and pretty much everything like when you get your cell phone wet.... however, I would be afraid of a rice smell or taste in your final product.

I'm currently in the middle of curing and i'm using the mason jar with hydrometer method outlined by SimonD in "A perfect cure every time". It's pretty straight forward and easy. https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/514841-perfect-cure-every-time.html

Just my two-cents for you. It's always fun to experiment though, so have fun and good luck!

cooked rice maybe..not the grain itself. It would only be an added layer anyway to add to the drying technique.

I think it would suck the smell right out of your bud, bottom line, there is no quick way to dry and cure. patience is best, why waste 3-4 months of work?
