a HUGE but tiny problem

ok new grower doing indoor cfl/outdoor sun during the day for the 24 hour veg cycle
and well lets say this is the first week with the seedlings and the sprouts had their 2nd day out doors
my girlfriend said they would be fine outside she would take care of them while i was at school
and i thought it would be fine as well
little did we know
i got home and went around back to see the babies and 3 of the 6 sprouts are laying on the soil in the cups
i immediately brought them inside and lightly watered them
put them under the cfls instead of the harsh light of the sun
thought that would be a good idea

would the 3 that hit the dirt survive?
im very inexperienced so i dont want to just throw them because i did that to 7 2 week old plant that i thought would die
unfortunately they wouldnt have because i still have 2 that were grow in the same batch and are getting great sunlight now
just had to get them better soil

"lightly watered them"? Misting is fine, but never 'lightly water"... Either the soil is dry and they need a thorough watering, or the soil is still slightly moist, and they need to dry out.

They should be alright, maybe they're in shock? Do they look ok?

It's good to acclimate indoor plants to direct sun slowly - a few hours each day for a few days

I have to disagree. I water mine every 2 days, or daily. I never let them dry out totally if they do, they start wilting (even if the soil feels moist an inch down.

Id say it depends on the plant and conditions

id say not to be an asshat or anything but neither of you answered my questionas to if they would live or not
which they wont i just got off work and all three look like they will turn into dirt in time
so i learned my lesson on the dangers of the sun
and the dangers of leaving babies in the hands of someone who only wants to smoke the end result
stupid girls why dont they understand
if they would learn just a little they would love the whole grow process

but thanks for even replying guys its more than anyone else did ive just decided i would water them once every two days unless the water is just still wet because it is usually no where near it

If you put them inside under your cfl's 24/0 and only mist a couple of times a day then they should pick up. If they are that young misting will be enough water for them, if possible put them in a propigator to give them some nice high humidity. Wilting can be recovered from, shriviling is bad.
You can give them some support to keep them out of the dirt, wont take long to pick up.
Seedlings are very week and do not like strong light sources, what until you have around 3 to 4 leaf sets and a good roots before you put them in the sun, if you are going to put them out early, try a shaded area untill they are older.

Well sounds like they fainted! Once that happens it's very unlikely they will perk up. If they fainted they are lying in the dirt.

Ive had seedlings end up in the dirt many times. Almost everyone of my "feinted" plants has been grown to full maturity without further problem. As long as they haven't shrivled up or snapped there is no reason why they cant recover with some TLC.

I've seen a plant faint and come back to b stronger than ever. I personally would avoid the stress of sunlight/cfl switch. I'll b a bit hypocritical and say i've done this, but only due to the fact that i over watered and wanted to evaporate the excess water from the pot. It unfortunately did stunt the growth, but it's starting to catch up to her sister. CFL doesn't supply heat (well a little bit) witch the sun does. You might have experianced what i went through, only thing i can come up with is "too much light". I origanially had 11 seedlings, and only 3 survived the germ stage. only differance i had 8 on 2 - 4" fluorescent lights and 3 on a 24" light. the only 3 that survived were the 3 on the 24" bulb.

They might die, but they might not. Seems to be pretty much up to chance whether a plant wants to live or die after experiencing a shock like that. I'm the worst seedling-abuser in the universe, and I've seen plenty of seedlings fall down and die. I've also seen plenty of them survive. When my seedlings fall down in the dirt I generally just keep treating them as if they were fine... water them, etc. If they haven't improved in about 5 days I consider them a lost cause.

They fainted! That's funny because it's true. I never thought of it as fainting before, but I guess it is, isn't it?

Anyway, what I've learned after killing 100's of seedlings is that temperatures over 80 degrees F are dangerous for a baby plant if they're in direct sunlight. I killed so many seedlings this spring by accidentally leaving them in direct sun for too long when it was too hot outside. I've gotten wise and am now starting ALL my seedlings indoors under floros and CFLs, in windowsills, on tabletops, etc, lol. I'm like the crazy lady with 100s of cats, only for me it's plants =) Keep them in the shade at first, and when they grow up a little bit you can start putting them in direct sun for an hour or so and slowly working up to a full day. This is called "hardening off". You always want to do this with seedlings that were started indoors, or haven't been in direct sunlight.

You can't really expect anyone here to be able to determine whether your plants are going to live or not. It's completely up to the plants and you. I understand your frustration but name-calling isn't the best way to elicit helpful answers.

sorry DoeEyed i just read this one guys grow journal about how he had to get his girlfriend involved
so he got her to decorate the growbox door and name all the plants
mine just rags me for reading so much and then my plants still dont make it
but its a learning process i just wish she would be a part of it and she wont
just doesnt make sense to me
how all these people just want to smoke the plant but dont care anyting about the actual growing process and nature of the plant
if they only knew what it took you know?
idk if ill even let these "people" i live with smoke the bud i grow
haha by people i mean my family

anyways i didnt mean it like that i know there are women out there that grow some killer ass bud

i understand completely those plants were nowhere near ready for that sun and im surprised 3 of the 6 actually lasted
they're some soldiers which might be a bad thing you think?

i wasn't name calling just saying that i wasn't trying to be rude
just that neither person had answered my question and was making sure they knew incase they could actually give me the correct answer
i hate it when i ask a question and the thread goes off track you know?

i just wish this was a hobby we could share
but thankfully we both smoke

fuck yeah, i always made sure she had the first and last bong toke. but when it came to taking care of the plant she always wanted to press fast forward. we're no longer together; sensimilla doesn't argue.
