A Mistake In Jorge C.'s Grow Bible!?!?

I wanted to put this out there not only to see what everybody thinks about this, but whether or not he is completly wrong? On page 299, In the Hydroponics chapter. There is a section called Deep Water Culture (DWC) and it says ".......The net pots are nested in holes in a lid the covers the reservoir. The roots of seedlings and cuttings dangle down into the nutrient solution. A submersible pump lifts nutrient solution to the top of a discharge tube where it spashes into the access lid. Nutrient solution cascades down, wetting roots and splashing into the self-contained reservoir below, which in turn increases dissolved oxygen in the solution......." This to me would be a Top Feed system and the next page has a very good description of a top feed. Which sounds almost the same just worded even better and more descriptive. I "thought" a DWC was just the Large air stone and the water level of the Res. was right below the net pot. NO water delivery system in a DWC, or so i thought. If i am wrong i would love to know and/or if this is just a different type of DWC then i would love to be corrected also. Thanks everyone for you time and if you havnt read this book I would suggest it to anyone who is thinking about starting any hobby! Def one of the best :)

To-may-to, To-mah-to! I'm really not a big Hydro guy - but that sounds like a good way to get a DWC "Jump-started". Wouldn't you have to do something like that (at least, at first) to get the roots to start working thier way down into the water? Like I said, I'm not into Hydro all that much, but I always imagined doing a DWC grow - and part of that "picture" was me hand-watering untill the roots made it down, through the net pot, to the water level. Maybe that's not needed - never been there, never done that!

I forgot to include the best part! Right next to the DWC + top feed description there is a picture labled "Deep Water Culture" where it shows JUST an airstone bubbling the nutrient solution to to roots. NO water delivery system. as far as feeding until the root structure is developed, it would just be unnessary to get a pump and run a line when in reality you should be putting already well rooted clones in a dwc, and after hand watering the media around the rw for 3-4 days they will be down in the nutes. And again i want to say I LOVE THE BOOK. i would have to, to have read it as much as i have to catch this issue. ;)
