~A Question On Quick Drying Methods~

It's 7 AM and I've just taken some sample budz (plant is approx. in itz 10th or 11th week of flowering). I'm wondering if anyone knows if using a food dehydrator is safe for quick drying ze bud? I know it's a lot better than using the microwave, but does it lose much of its potency in the dehydratr?

Damn, R u serious? Will it render it worthless? I mean, On a scale from 0 to 100, what percentage of the THC will get destroyed from the heat?

To be honest with you, I don't know... But I know that 29 C is the maximum temparature to retain the maximum THC. And food dehydrators operate well over that point.

Welcome to the forum both of you. Deeyou is right jaze. In order to accomplish this with out getting too much heat you would have to put a control (Dimmer switch) on the dehydrator. Just want to smoke a bowl now? use the microwave. Hit it for about 15 seconds, fluff it up turn it over and hit it for 10 more seconds. Let it cool, chop it up and let it dry, I use a Incandescent light, until it dry enough to smoke. It will be a little harsh, It will get you high.
I posted a thread on building a bud dryer. VV

Thanx for the heads up. I've dried a few smaller buds in my dehydrater before and they turned out somewhat decent. But I'm pretty sure I'm not getting the full potential of the smoke without drying it out naturally.
That 3 day curing box is a great idea, I'm thinkin' I should put one together myself~

You will never get the fullest potential when drying it fast, EVER... The dehydrator is in fact a better method then say sticking it in the microwave or in the oven, etc. But, the fact of the matter is, when you speed up the drying process, it doesn't give the bud sufficient time to dry properly or evenly.. When hanging or laying for a few weeks, it drys most of the outside, then curing, the pressure (when sealing the air tight jar shut) pulls the moisture form the middle, thus, in desired time, it will be perfectly and EVENLY dried. So when you skip or speed up these processes, of course the end result will not compare to the proper procedures/techniques you know? However, nothing wrong with doing this, I personally can never wait long enough for my plants to dry/cure (at first) I always take a few branches and dry them out early near a heater or in an oven lol. It ruins it, but sometimes, you just gotta smoke lol! Especially if you have a vast quantity, what does it matter as in due time the rest will be fully dried and cured. Good luck man! Enjoy them buds!
