A question regarding Cloning

In most vids I see when talking about taking a cutting from a mother plant to create a clone -

It is reccomended that a healthy branch be taken...and then the excess leaves cut off

Well - my plants - all of the "branches" extending from the main stalk are just big leaves.....

In other words - each "branch" is just one leaf.

Now these leaves are really ig on some of the plants....they are two months old

My question is - can I cut off one of these long branches that contain just one big leaf and make a clone from that?

Ive never seen in any of the vids I've looked at jsut one big leaf sticking out of a Rockwool plug (or etc) growing as a clone

Any thoughts on this?

Ok ...so if I have a branch that is nothing but one fan leaf - and it is basically creating a canopy where leaves/stems/branches below it are getting less light -

What should I do about this big leaf?

Cut it of at the stalk?

just trim off the leaf at the base of the leaf or its own stem base?

Im saying - if its not going to produce a usable branch for cloning, its basically in the way....

What should be done about it?

Thanks in advance

Ok well...the pictures in the links you posted are either dead or I can't really see what I'm supposed to do.

I understand that Im to use paperclips to somehow train the leaves to "get them out of the way"

But Im not precicely sure how to do that

Am I to bend the leaves down?

Bend them up?

Or do I roll them up like a churro and wrap a paperclip or twisty tie around them and basically fold or roll the leaves up?

Just trying to get specific

Thanks

Note: Branches will emerge from the leaf sites (where the leaves intersect the stem (nodes)

You could twist tie leaves down if you want, but if your plant isn't getting enough light it may not produce much branching.

Most strains - under optimal conditions -have plenty of branches @ 12"

If you want more branching you can top, FIMM, or LST.

bend them anyway they need to go to get them out of the way. I usually just clip two fan leaves together. Just get a box of paperclips or some wire twist ties and start experimenting. Your not gonna hurt the plants.

Well yeah - I guess that is my main concern that the man-handleing of leaves as it were would "offend" the plants somehow...

I'm always afraid I'm being too rough with them everytime I mess with them to prune dead leaves or whatever...

My problem is I have six plants three strains

One of the strains is Alaskan Ice and they are way out growing the Mazar Kush and Diesel

And the Biggest Alaskan ice is two to three icnhes taller than the Diesel - so the Canaopy created by the top leaves on the AI is stopping light from hitting below them

As well - the leaves are spreading out, and the plants are bumpin' shopulders and fightin' for room as it were

I keep hearing Rush's "Trees" run through my head every time I open the door to my Grow Cab

I will post a pic tonight so everyone can see what I'm talking about

Don't be afraid to show'em who's boss. They can take a little tough love.
