So, i was woke up this morning at around 3am from pounding on my door. It was my aunt tellin' me my mom had a stroke last night at around 1am.:-(
Does anyone here know anything about strokes? effects? Im a mess  today, im about to head out to the hospital to spend the day with her, or how ever long i need to. Any support or advise would be greatly appreciated. Peace RIU, pray for my mom or at least have a toke for her she's a 70's child...
:peace:
i can answer most of your questions i had a stroke in 01. the best thing you can do is give her lots of suport. make her feel good about every little thing she gets back. if it was on her left side (brain) it might efect her speach. talk to her therpists she will have 2 one for every day things like dressing the other for movement.ask the hospital if they have a suport group for stroke patinshents.(can't spell). depending on how much return she gets she might have to go to a nursing home. it might be only for a little wile. they will have staff to help with thise choses. i still have weeknesss on my left side (body).

My grandmother had a stroke at a late age but she was never the same and eventually passed away but it wasn't acted upon right away, Hopefully your mother can make a full recovery and they catch it early!

Best wishes!

sorry to inform you jack you never make a full recovery from a stroke. the only cells in the body that don't regenrate are brain and nerv cells. mike if you look you can always find a postive about any thing that happens the postive about my stroke is that i never have to look for a place to sit. confinded to a wheel chair. had a 80% diabilty to my leg befor my stroke. i can give women wheel chair rides leting them stear. when they look for the controler i tell them wrong joy stick:wink:

you just have to have a pma(postive mental attuide). life is too short to dwell on the negtive. it could always be worse. its great when women take me along when shopping. how many shoping carts can give advice on new outfits? plus its a nice bouns.when they shop for a new nighty:clap:

That's true, brain cells do not regenerate, but the incredible brain can develope new neural pathways to bypass the deficit. It's never quite the same but improvement is possible. I would guess that you are in somewhat better shape now than the day you left the hospital. Am I correct? Or totally misinformed?
