Hey there fellow growers smokers readers and what ever, I'm as fresh as germinated seed to this site and have bugger all navigational experience onna computer, but i do know how to grow dope :D
I have currently gone for an indoor grow tent set up, as im normally an outdoor grower, well i am sick and tire of late yields, mouldy dope ,rain, paranoia i have been ripped twice, rain and in general i want better quicker yields.
Anyways here is my set up

Mylar grow tent 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m high
inlet and outlet fans at 500 cfm
600W digital ballast with MH and HPS lamps
Aluminium refector hanging on quick release yo yo's
running a 35L resivior ebb and flow system (home made)
full electronic EC/temp/pH PPM meter
twin 4 inch height adjustable and oscilating fans
Dutch Master One range of nutes with :
Add .27
silica
zone
potash+
I also have A.P.S and saturater and liquid light
clones will be in rockwool in a meshed 4" pot with hydraton filler

The two you can see in the center have just been planted from a germinated seed so thats why my lamp isnt screwed in yet
Oh yeah i welded the table up myself and cut the timber to suit i also made sufficient room for play reagrding the drain hole locations in the timber

So i would love to hear your replies on my set up and when i get a fresh supply of clones i will post more pics

hey thanks mate, all up with nutes was $750 AUD and probally another $150 at the hardware store for all the plumbing parts and electrical timers and so forth.
I used the the company Growlush, here in Australia, they put together a package for me, i reckon its sweet as!!!

nice set up tricka even though i would advice from using growlush
heard nothing but bad things bout them from a lot of diff hydro stores there ballasts arent very reliable but saying that i do know peeps who have had success with em i personally went for a jb ballast
if ya dont mind buying shit online check out discount hydro on ebay u can even ring them direct and it saves you about another 5%
also keep a close eye on them yo-yo's even though they say they can hold the weight of lights they do tend to fuck up and you come in after lights out and find ya light on the floor with ya busted up plant or worse yet on fire cause ya lights fallen and sitting on the plant
most peeps just use em to hold up bud heavy plants so the branches dont break they great for that lol

anyways plus rep and subbed cant wait to see ya final results

yeah thanks fella's espicially for sub'n

i'll just let you all know that i have no seed or clones as yet so i apologise for posted up my new op so quickly, i have 2 seed germ'd and in rockwool but i have had to come to perth for a funeral so im expecting to go back and be NO sprouts GRRR.
Thanks Odlaw yeah i have heard that befor too but as i was saying to masterhemp i run a cooling fan over my ballast, and i have spare MH and HPS bulbs, as for digital ballast well i can only help it live its life longer by keeping it cooled, when i got these light hangers (not actual yo-yo's sorry even tho i said they were) they are capable of 30kgs each and i have tested the other 2 i have and yeah no probs, my tent has a fire powder estinguisher and a smoke alarm and all power is running off a RCD protecter. i am currently trying to build the best bubble cloner i can and next installment is a veg room then this tent baby will be just for flowering!!! but that'll be after my havest.

I like it, i put the lights about an inch away and the plants stay nice and compact while I'm getting them on their feet. As for clones, same deal. Right on top of the humidity dome, only a few lights at first, then ramp up to all 6

i actually do nearly all my veg under 2 45w cfls and they luv it and they keep em at a nice height for the cupboard i have which as around the same height as your tent man mines a tiny bit lower
i do have a 400w retro mh but am finding now that i have my babys under fluros by time the cupboard is ready again they are at a nice height to go in so havent really been using the mh l8ly although i have read somewhere that swapping to mh last 2 weeks of veg can help the buds fatten up more so i might give that a go with the ww i got going now

im only using a small bar fridge as my veg cab so the cfls fit in there nice thats why i am using them

I want to experiment with hanging one of those CFL bulbs like in the center of my plants. I top them so they grow four colas and thought it would be cool to dangle a bulb right into the center of the colas. But i digress. Either T-5 or CFL is great for vegging.

yeah man i guess choosing from CFL's and T5's and T8's really comes down to your grow space, im currntly going through many design ideas for my clone and veg cab, i was thinking of using these lights rather than getting another ballst for my MH bulbs (you know keep the temps and elec prices down) i was thinking of doing CFL's on top and t5's as side lighting including the door!......
on another note i was searching for CFL's on aussie ebay and i come across these 100/150/200 watters and they are a single CFL...wow thats cool if anyone is interested i will post link. i dont need all that power from them but i just thort is there anybody out there using them, they sorta aren't compact as the small 11, 19 and 23W's

oh yeah i changed my avitar, as it was too similar to MaxCan's one......so the bongaroo is me

Hey there guys well i thort i might add some new pics that ive taken and update you or anyone following on my present status i'm not going to say progress as unfortunately there is none and it has turned to bad :(

A little background info, wed the 9th i had 2 seeds that were sitting in rockwool cubes they had been sprouted 3 days already these were germinated on the 6 day (paper towel soak method) 3 days later i transpl'd them into 3" cubes with a propogation cut out, good for peat disks but i dont like the transition time ive heard from jiffy cubes to rockwool?
so i just buried them under scrapings of rockwool
P2120002.jpgAnyways.......
i left for W.A wed morn and left my partner to check on my tent everynow and then while i was gone, well i arrived home this morning the 13th and found them dry as and with no visable humidification drops on my dome's. I have my 600W as high as possilbe as for their first days i dont wanna shock em, well they dried up and the tap roots on both have dried up :(
I cant blame my partner for not keeping them wet, luckily these were just bagseed,(nothing special yrs ago outdoor stuff) but yes they were my LAST two....hmmm?
but some good news is that i had some stuff arrive for my res from ebay today and i am happy with my purchases
- my first littl air pump was only a 1.6Ltr a minute and its airstone was tiny and made of plastic
-my new airpump has a TWIN Switchable outlet...oool and it runs them both a 4Ltr a min so a total of 8L/m
-got 2x 12" airstones for my res
-extra FREE 2m of hose and a lil airstoneP2120008.jpgP2120009.jpg
- and the 3rd pic is my little fan set up over to cool my ballastP2120004.jpg

Hey I'll give you a seed sprouting tip from my experience. It's a lot less work so no need to rely on anyone else. Look into these things called rapid rooters. They look like little square brown sponges. Also get yourself a mini humidity dome. I use either the little bowls from Jack in the Box for their teriyaki bowls or the bowls you get from take home salads at any restaurant or fast food place. If you don't have those, its about the size of a half of a cantaloupe with a black bottom and clear top with a little hole punched in to release steam i guess. This hole is very important, if the top doesn't have one I make a few slits with a knife and bend the slit open so it can breath a little.

First i presoak the cube in phd water. I use 6.0 but i don't know if its right, just what i do. You can use a rooting agent or some superthrive if you want but not everyone does. I also squeeze it real hard to displace as much moisture with this water/rooting agent mix. Then I flip the rapid rooter over so it's upside down, fat side down, make a hole with a screw or thin knife, then put the seed pointy side up. Put the rapid rooter plug(s) in the bowl, pour in a VERY small amount of the water you used to soak your cubes in, and I mean VERY little. It should not cover more than than about 10% of the bottom of your container. Then snap the top on, placing it under my t-5 4 ft bars that I use for my moms/clones/seeds area. After about three days you should start to see them coming up. At this point, I unsnap the top but don't remove it. This let's more air in and starts to harden them off. Once they almost hit the top, it's time to put them in soil/coco/whatever. You should see about 1/4 - 1/2 of tap root showing. Be careful with this, breaking it will severely stress and slow down the baby.

You should plant this as soon as you see the tap root to avoid air pruning it. This will also stunt your plant. By the time you see it, it's already about an inch long. I learned this the hard way.

Also, the seed HAS to be pointy side up. Also learned the hard way. The tap root did a 360 before it figured out which way was down and delayed the seedling like about a week, make 5 days.

Hope this helps.

I've had 100% success with this method, and every one is a good, fast strong plant since it keep it under the t-5s for almost 2 months. Short fat little ladies.

great thanks heaps MaxCan, its funny you mentioned that because i did say i was weary about transplanting them, but i thort i'll will dig deaper and read on thru RIU and Google (great tool) and i was probally taking a biased approach to this method, as you prob no from looking at my profile, i have grown outdoors and i have always had a 90% success rate in my pots, i do understand the importancy of the 'Tap root' and its placement, also knowing how to identify a healthy seed as to where the indentation is (where it was hanging from the pod), i dare say i did peek at my seeds, but only in a stoned hastyness as i have never used rockwool cubes and i couldnt remeber if i sore that the tap was facing down, this with the result of drying out lead to 2 seed death.....my fault i know

well i just got back from ebay---discount hydro Thanks for the link up Odlaw and MasterHemp!;-)
i bought this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HYDROGARDEN-FLEXIMIX-24-CELL-TRAY-FLEXIPLUGS-/200496944890?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item2eae8c96fa

I have a 3wk wait for my skunk#1 and Mango seeds to arrive, i also get some free Afghani as well

skunk #1, mango and afghani sounds good!
are you gonna grow all 3 strains at once?
Im keen on seeing that afghani grow, got some seeds of that
Hey MH yeah i have ordered just reg seeds, so i will be doing one strain at a time, i wont be scroging so i have the ability to pull a male if i wish, or keep him and collect some pollon.
i will start off with the skunk to dial in all my new found knowledge...ahahaha :)
the seed bank offering the free afghani's say they are outdoor sativa pheno's??? (which is weird cos i thort they were a 100% indica never hybrydized) so i will have to see how they 'stretch' out, plenny of lst'ing i say,
i wanted the mango for my taste and as im not spending massive on the seeds im not going for exotic or exspensive strains as of yet.

As for the oil....mmmmm i getting sick of it and my WW supply is a few cured weeks out, so its all i got.
