About "Flushing"...

:leaf: Aloha RIU~

Been reading trying to find some info, perhaps I can find some here. Lemme "paste" my lastest post from the "Nutrients" section here:

***I know this is an old thread but I am hoping that I can find some help here about flushing. Here is a quote I copied from the first entry: (you all know I don't flush before harvest, I flush always).

I am about to go into flower with my first clones ever and technically speaking they have only had 1/4 strength nutes, x-planted into final containers just a couple days ago which = plenty of NEW nutes + a FF soluble @ 50% 2 times. They are 6 weeks old tomorrow. Wonder if you think I still need to flush them or can I put em right into 12/12? I'll post a new thread too just in case.

Appreciate any help you can offer~ :peace:

I'll keep reading :leaf:

You don't mention your medium if it's coco based yes due to high holding, soil yes because unless you test the soil water run off for nitrogen ect you don't reall know! soiless mix probably not but....yes it's not hard so why take a chance this is not the time or project to rush or guess. This also give's the root's plenty of oxygen as the water pulls the oxygen to the root's! good luck my brother hope this help's! jack

No no you are correct... kinda. "Flushing" is done when plants are over nuted too but also "some" reccommend doing it in-between vegging and flowering to rid the roots of built up salts etc., and a sort of out with the old (nutes) and in with the new (nutes), as their dietary needs will be different. Good question.

:leaf: I apologize for my lack of information. I am using ammended soil, FF-OF, with all the nutes and solubles. I guess the real question is, since I have only actually fertilized once and @ 1/4 strength and never since I transplanted them into their 4 gal. containers, if you think there is a need to flush.

I think you are right in the "why take a chance" thing tho, so...

Thank you for stoppin by.

if my plant is like starving I feed it, but towards the end they just don't need as much, so flushing is what the plants seem to prefer...there are nutes built up in the soil...I haven't finished a plant in coco yet, but we'll see what it seems to need...I am not sure which is correct...I think like most things it is to each their own...I usually starve my plants at the end because it seems to be what they want...they start to look over fed if I keep feeding them so I stop...so I guess they are flushed since they get only water the last bit...the smoke is good...took one strain really early and it is harsh as shit...can't smoke it, it makes me cough til I almost pee and then I just can't stop stretching and yawning...like compulsively...so...going to let it go longer and see if it is still as terrible... it isn't cure or nute related...just way too early...anyway blah blah blah...

Also you want to flush 2 weeks before harvest. Flush out all the nutes so they dont negativity effect the taste...

miss instead of letting plant flower longer why not try chopping earlier you mention coughing could it be your plants is already breaking down its THC and converting it to CBD thus giving you cough lock ???? who knows give it a try ???
Also with flushing people tend to think that flushing is good in a sense drowning your root zone isnt that good you can screw up osmosis and cause more problems flushing should only be done as a last resort from over feeding yes you also will get salt build up if you veg a long time but doing watering feeding water and feed and not go to crazy on food plants will strive throughout veg n flower
we as growers tend to think that giving plants food its going into the bud just doesn;t really work that way the nutrients gets broken down in the root zone plant will uptake the gases and amonia's and store it in the leafs plant then takes what it needs from the leafs think of a plant as a machine lol
like saying a person eats a carrot then next day shits out a carrot doesn;t quite work like that its gets broken down just like the food we eat and a plant eats its all broken down to what it can absorb
