??? about Ozone Odor control in sealed room. +rep for answers

I'm trying to find an effective form of odor control for my medical grow I'm about to fire up.

Room info:
8'x10'x9'
Fully Sealed
Co2 Enrichment
4x 600 watt hps hung vertically
1x 1k watt hps hung vertically
Lucas Formula Nutes
Sativa pheno of AK47
CAP 12 pot E&G

My thought is to use this Ozone generator on a 5 minute timer each day. http://www.nehydro.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=46&zenid=9ebadebdc10da0fe816adb8632d2179c

My concern is ozones toxicity to plants. Anyone foresee any issues using it so briefly each day.

I'm trying to maintain a specific budget without cutting corners, so any and all help is much appreciated.

Also, for those curious, a grow journal will be kept.

Get your self a charcoal filter...should do the trick. They sell all different sizes for reasonable prices. Don't know any other good way to hide the smell

Thanks for the comment. I know that charcoal filters will do the trick but the ozone generator will also remove smell for $360 less. I'm trying to find out about the threat of toxicity to the plants though.

Anything that I can do to save a penny while not cutting corners is what I'm looking for.

Also the Can Fan+Filter uses 220watts constantly where as the Ozone Generator would only use 100w for 5 min a day.

Again thanks and looking forward to other replies.

I wish I could help on the impact to the plants. I built a large "closet" specifically as a small grow room in my basement. Although I vent outside, there was always a sight smell as you walked down the stairs...and I am not even to the budding stage. I purchased a relatively cheap Ozone machine from Ebay and I could not be more pleased.....but I keep the Ozone machine OUTSIDE of the grow room to avoid potentially a negtive impact to the plants. Acutally under my stairs.

So I can state for certain Ozone works very well, but can't help out much on the toxicity inside of the room.

Great post :)

I use ozone and a can fan...

I will say this, The canfan blows the doors off of the air lazer ozone gen.

I use both and all's well...kinda..

Lets say.. Much better! :)

Might wanna consider a low odor strain Like Northern Lights #5 if your worried about the smell.. You wont smell anything :)

I've considered NL#5 but can't get it as a clone where I live. I would actually love to grow it due to it's growth characteristics and flower time but until I can find it, that ones out.

The dispensaries where I'll most likely get my clones from recommended Grand Daddy Purple as a low odor strain but I've seen where some growers have had odor issues with it and it takes some 70+ days to fully flower and as GDP is a clone only strain, it should be the exact same everywhere or there trying to sell me something else as GDP.

The main catch with this grow is that I'm dedicating all my room to flower and have no desire to mess with seeds again.

Thanks for the help again and if you know of any other low odor strains, plz let me know.

Thanks. Good point on the strain as well. I am growing Bubblicious and Kali Haze. The former is almost odorless, the latter is unbelievable in how stroing it smells. Wish I would have researched the smell factor a little more, but I went for the effects of the KH. But really even with the smell, I probably still would have tried it.

Well, its the only strain I ever grew without an ozone generator or canfan. I had people over, no one ever knew...

I cant help ya out on the clone situation, but you can buy the nl5 seeds @ http://www.highgrade-seeds.com/

Best of luck guys.. Thanks for the +rep :)

They told me at the local hydro store that the ozone would kill my tomatoes if it were in the same room. It can also have potentially harmful effects on humans, especially is you are predisposed to asthma or bronchitis. I have one in my basement because that's where my A/C unit is venting.

Surely you must be venting all that heat from your 3400 watts somewhere? That would be the place to put your ozone.

Yes no ozone generator or carbon filter needed for this strain, was designed to be odorless and can yield 1.5-2lbs with a 1000watter depending on how good you take care of it follow the rule .5g to 1g per watt, this Northern lights # 5 is 1g to 1.5g per watt very good cash crop with no smell, thats what makes this strain so popular they call it the closet cash crop because it is the smallest plant that yields just as much if not more than the average 5-6 feet plants this plant will only stay about 3-4 feet

Glad to hear, Just picked up 12 clones from my dispensary that claims them to be NL#5 but it's hard to know for sure until flowering. I'm super stoked though about starting and really hoping that they are NL. +rep to you for stopping by.

a ozone gen might be iffy, using it outside of the room might work and not hurt your plants. i say give it a try and if you start to see a change in your plants then turn it off

Well, I was able to get ahold of some clones from a local dispensary I was told was Northern Lights but I don't really trust that what I'm given is what it's claimed to be until I start seeing the proof of the genetics so hopefully an Ona Bucket will cover my smell issues but only time will tell. Thanks for dropping in though and hopefully this grow goes well.

you should either get an OZjr. or search for inexpensive carbon filters that will assist. I have the Oz jr. and within the first 10 min cycle it clears the entire room for me. hope that helps.
