2 tents
1 flower (2-3 ladies depending on size)
1 veg (1 mother and 2 vegging)

lighting
flower tent: 250w hps would be ideal if it is sufficent for the space and number of plants?
veg tent: plan on using t5 as its very compatible with tent but need to know how much t5 lights to use

ventilation
i know the tents have the velcro open/shut vents, but with them open, i plan on putting fans insidefor circular vent., but do i need to put specific active intake/exhaust fans on these velcro vents? (for both tents) or will the vents being open be adequate ventilation with the fans inside just blowin around?

i hope that makes sense..it makes sense to me.. im f'n lit lol :eyesmoke:

Gonna start backwards here, Yes you need an exhaust fan, plants need fresh air, pulling it in works as well as pushing it. Lighting, as much as you can fit. An HPS creates a lot of heat, plan for that. t5's produce more heat than you would expect. I didn't look at the link but a good rule of thumb is to ventilate the entire area in 5 minutes.

well i found a better tent. mylar lined. same size, 2x4x5. so thats 40cu ft. for an exhaust fan.. what would be adequate then for cfm rating of the exhaust fan? 150? can i get away with a duct booster fan or am i gonna need an inline fan?

and for intake..do i need intake fans? there are flaps at the bottom i can open for passive intake and i plan on havinga an oscilating fan in the tent to blow air around.

edit: also thought about putting fans on floor blowing up to help ventilation

Any fan would probably work for that size tent, depending on lighting obviously. No need for an intake fan i would imagine, just a good oscilating fan and maybe the updraft fan you were thinking about, i have 2 of those in my room just to make sure everything is circulating. Again any hps light makes a lot of heat, my fan suggestions may not be enough for anything but floros.

dude i have the same tent and it does get hot in there...when i first set it up my house was 82 outside and inside the tent was 91.
i have a 180 cfm 6" inline fan for exhaust and i just leave the flaps open at the bottom for passive intake and now the temp stays the same as my house
with 2 150hps in it

how many plants can yout fit in the tent?

ill be growing northern lights and im really unsure how much space to give them... i heard 1 plant per sq ft.. but ill be giving them a little more room.. 3 plants in a 4x2 area.. unrealistic? realistic? or am i crazy and i can fit like 2-3 more in there? lol

also, the biggest light i want to use for flowering is a 250w hps (i live in an apartment). would this light be effective in the space? htg supply says the 250w (as well as the 150w) is good for up to 9 sq ft and im at 8 (i will be lowering the light, not fixed).

***NOTE*** the entire floor of the tent cant be used by just plants cuz ill be putting an oscilating fan in there blowing around and up towards the exhaust fan

thoughts?

for the veg tent (same size) i want to use (4) 4 foot t5 lamps... 6400K.

http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=49346 (this is affordable)

will this be enough for my 2x4 foot print? this is my veg tent so i plan on keeping a mother and 2-3 others in there.

its 20,000 lumens.. where my grow light (250w HPS) is rated at 33,000 lumens. **correct me if im wrong but each plant is to get about roughly 10,000 lumens right? is this for both flowering and vegging?

or would it be neccessary to bump up to a 6 lamp fixture? 6 is more pricey but if i need it i need it. otherwise ill probably go with the 4 lamp setup

http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=50061 (not as budget friendly at the moment but could be, but is it absolutely necessary?)

ok i answered my own question

ill be getting the T5 4ft 4 lamp from htg for my veg tent.

now, next question... i want to get the 4" 170 cfm fans for exhaust for my tents (are 2x4x5...40cf.. so the 170 cfm fan will satisfy me moving air every 4 or 5 min for sure). my problem is the holes on my tent are 6 inch. SOOO, can i have my carbon filter attached to the fan (both inside the tent), pulling air THROUGH the filter (i was told not to push through it) then the fan then a short run of 4 inch duct then a reducer, making the duct go from 4" to 6" and exhausting it out of the vent.

or, idea #2

i have the filter inside the tent connected to 6 inch ducting until its out of the tent then put a 6'' to 4'' reducer and then have teh fan attached?
