About to start using Potassium Bicarbonate

Hey all,

I'm about to start using Potassium Bicarbonate to control PM on both my mum's and flowering plants.
I've read that it can be applied right up to last day before harvest.
Doing a quick search on here just now, I read that it will burn the hell out of the hairs/pistols. This sounds just like what happened the last time to me when I used Neem oil during flower.

I'm still using the Neem, and sulfur burner, and want to add the PB to the weekly/4 day treatment cycle for a triple punch.

Anybody use the PB with success?

Mixing instructions for PB?
The bag instructions say 1 1/3 tsp per US gal. Elsewhere I've read to use as much as 3 tbsp.
I figure on using RO water with some dish soap as a wetting agent, but have also read to add oil to the mix. What kind of oil should I use? I'm sure PAM cooking spray would be less than optimal!

Any advice for mixing PB to help me control the PM would be great.

I almost gave you instruction on how to use potassium silicate. I've never used PB, couldn't tell ya!

PS I controlled PM by using 1 part of milk to 8 parts water solution, and spraying on the affected areas. Something about the pH and enzymes within the milk will battle the PM. I know it sounds crazy, bit I've done it and it works...

Thanks. I haven't tried the milk yet. That's next on the list. It's not bad right now because of the treatments I've been giving it with the sulfur burner & Neem. I just gotta keep up with the maintenance so it don't come back strong again. I had to chuck 6 Diablo [all of them] plants the last time because it got into the bud. That was a damn shame because they were only one week away from harvest. I wound up harvesting my XXXOG two days early because of it as well before it got into the buds. I may ditch the xxx, but I want to keep the Diablo. Those plants love my environment, clone easy and grow like gang bangers! Unfortunate that the PM love them as much as I do. I have another strain that the PM completely ignores Starberry Cough from Kushman genetcs http://www.medicaljane.com/review/veganic-starberry-from-kushman-veganics/ It's mostly Sativa, and I'll have to see how she goes in Hydro SOG, but so far, the mother I grew out is my best smoke. I have some high hopes for my 818, but the PM likes it too. I think the PM is going to like all my indica/OG's.

What are the conditions in your room?

I would use 1Tbl a gallon and no more! Burns our plant!

I use greencure it will burn hairs if used in sun-lamp

Depending on how strong you mix and apply it along with how often you use it!
A little pistol damage is common with any bicarb use....applied lights on or off!

RH of over 50% or swings in RH that go over 10% encourage PM growth.

Cool, good info! I'll stick to 1 tbsp per gal. Want to risk burning pistols as little as possible.

Yeah, the room never gets above 50% RH. I have a 6" intake fan, and two 6" exhaust fans blowing 24/7. No humidity spikes after lights out, etc. The intake draws air from a controlled temp/humidity room threw a Hepa filter. Free co2 here in smog land.

And lights off for application with 12 hours for it to dry off with a fan blowing on it before lights come back on.

Think I'll mix full dose of 2 tbsp to dip the tops of them in.
