Adding CFL light. Good or Bad?

Have used high wattage cfl s and they veg'd great. But i eventually gave in and went hps for flower.. So cant report on that side but they seem to be an awsum cheap alternative, finding good globes can be hard ive found?? But ive seen thick, mature bud grown entirely under cfl's. And you can set up a grow box for a trained plant in a rather small space with little heat probs just keep an eye on temp. humidity, etc; and you should see great results:)

I loved the surreal eraserhead movie, you might also like an adelusion dog by dahli its similar.but on subject the cree 3watt was the best you could get ,but time and tech move ever forward. look it up sungod komee 50watt single chip.I have 2 and they rule!!but whatever ,do the research or not I really don't care I just trying to help those who will be helped.

I am aware of the ebay link. I know there is some "SunGod" guy on Ebay trying to sell a 780 lumen per watt LED. Same exact LED you're talking about.

In reality, in the real world, this is what is called a false advertisement. Anyone willing to do a little research, will see 780 lumens per watt is space age tech at the moment.

And you seem like some guy trying to sell these things on this forum. You are getting pretty defensive btw.

Why are you so gung ho about these lights, you must have some finished grows to speak so highly of them. Can we see some grow pics of the Sun God LED?

Can we see some pics of the Sun God LED?

Put up or shut up, biatch.

first of all you intellectually challenged pathetic moron,if you would simply look it up on e bay, krazyken4u is the seller. under led grow lights.oh and I was wrong about the 39000,its 39500 lumens from a single 50 watt chip.I shared the latest high tech product knowledge with the people of this forum( kind of the concept of rollitup)however the occasional, still lives with mommy at 30 type like yourself can be more than a little trying,AS for my sales job I'm certain I can buy and sell you many times over.you must be stuck at about 12 years old judging from your "sonic the hemp hog" cleaver if you have(as you do) a 2 digit I.Q.in short put your pin head back in your pants and shut the hell up!

It is a great movie.

As for the Sun God LEDs, I do believe the rating the Ebay seller is claiming, is the "HID equivalent". Which is all a lie within itself...

I try to stay on top of LED technology, I can't say I am no more than a couple weeks behind in current tech in LEDs.

I know first hand there is not any tech to date that delivers more than 160 lumens per watt.

So, enjoy Eraserhead next time you see it, but also keep this in your brain, there is no 780 lumen per watt light sources.

Lumens are measured for the amount of visible light its for human use not plants u need to go by the kelvin scale it has a very wide variety of different colors I'm a fan of the kelvin scale for growing read up on it and it will let u grow plants in so many different ways I use hps 400 and 2700k and 6500 k cfls and also use purple flouresents for the sides cfls above them and hps sits on top 8 inches above the plant and has sensors to rais the lights about 2 1/2 inches a day

Lumens are quite visible 5 feet away from a cfl but it wont do nothing for a plant unless its closer and u can keep a 1000 watt hps 2 ft from the plants I bet leds wouldn't do much from there and niether would cfls id rather pay a lil more and have my good quality and quanity

We are all over the place in here........So to answer the op's ???...are cfl good or bad to add???............yes cfl's are good , adding more light(generally) in any grow setup is a plus/as long as you can deal with the added temp..........good luck/happy growing.

Looking at a seller's page on ebay constitutes "research", like me taking a first aid class makes me a doctor. It's all a bunch of bright colored text, mixed font size, bad kerning, and unbacked information. He backs up not one of his statements. There's an old saying "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.", this guy makes alot of claims that blow every other LED out of the water regarding output theoretically. If this man actually had a 50w chip that put out that much light, he would be making alot more marketing it through a real business to governments and just about every place where bright light in a cheap manner would be wanted (Read: Everywhere!). In short, if "Sun Master Kami" had actually revolutionized the lighting world to the tune of a 700%+ increase in lumen output, he'd be making billions in the market as it exists. The man wouldn't be selling one or two on ebay (I combed through the last 300 reviews he got, he gets good ones, none regard his 50w chips though.), he would be making a profit that makes an ebay store trivial and pointless. Think about it for a second, the seller doesn't quite add up reasonably. Nobody likes to get ripped off, but it happens to us all. I could be entirely wrong, and am more than willing to be. However, first you need to substantiate your claims of how awesome they are. If I dropped $350 on a light and got ripped, I'd be hesitant to accept it too.

Kelvin is also for visible use. It is the color that a black body radiator appears to the human eye at that many degrees kelvin. A spectral power distribution graph is the only way to judge the actual spectrums of light that are produced by a bulb, and therefore it's actual usefulness for growing.

dude, he gives a 14day return option,he's got a very high satisfaction rating on e bay,I first bought 2 mini lotus sungod komee 2700k lights&was very happy.they greatly increased budding on the lower branches.I doubting the 50watt chip took a leap of fath & am quite astounded by what I got.the plants I'm growing just started showing the first pistols a week ago.so posting pics. right now does'nt make alot of sence just yet .but I'll be glad to do so in about 5 more weeks, when I'll be able to show how effective they are,or not.but put up or shut up wtf! what you want a dual at high noon in the main street?

Glad to see my thread produces so much activity.

Back to my topic....

I added two GE 150w (cfl watt) and it helped. I have them on the sides and she is responding well. I'm two weeks out of 8 into bloom. I'm waiting to add another 250w led once I can afford.

Oh my word, I just can't believe how often you find someone so hopelessly clueless, you can just never convince them otherwise. Even with stone cold facts... I'd personally love a light that'd put out 780 lumens per watt! I think, while I'm at it, I'll get rid of my "100 little bulbs and colored glass".

Ubermech, my friend, I'd love to see pictures when you get them.

Positioning cfls in the room with your leds is a good thing. I also run fluorescent light up my walls. Plants evolved for millions of years under a star that would out put a color temp averaging 5850k. It helps them properly create and release hormones throughout flowering. Ca and Mg usage is also lowered when supplemental full spectrum light is added, from my experience. Growing weed is a strange thing these days, people get so hung up on the products that they use to flower a simple plant. I use LED light. I use it's high efficiency to squeeze the most out of my wallet. The cfl and fluorescent light was added to help reproduce some of the plants natural sunlight. Something it would receive if this plant wasn't illegal. Because really who would give a shit about what light you bought or how one company produces better LEDs than the other one. It would all be irrelevant if we could grow on our decks and in our backyards and custom greenhouses. In the end you are a real grower when you can say you grow for the plant, not for your self. Just my opinion. Free cannabis!
