Hey Guys,
I'm using the 3 part advanced line and I've been studying the mix. The base is meant to be mixed 1-1-1 for grow, micro, and bloom all the way through.
The mix is 4 - 3 - 8, so pretty close to a 1 - 1 - 2 mix.
I'd rather see 3 - 1 - 2 or 2 - 1 - 3 for grow though.
One thing really jumping out at me, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that the ratio of Ca to Mg should be 3:1. They have this base mix with 3.2 Ca and .1 Mg. That seems like asking for a Mag deficiency right off the bat. They have Bud Candy with .5% Mg, and some carbs, but who knows what else might be in there and I've asked why it couldn't be used in veg, to no avail. They recommend microbial munch during veg, but that only supplies .03%mg. Seems like the only way to bring this back into line is with Bud Candy.
Yes, they do have a Cal Mag product, but it has the proper ratio of 3.2Ca to 1.1Mg. Maybe I should just toss the Micro and use the Cal Mag. It has most of the same Micros and instead of 2% Nitrogen, it's 4% nitrogen. Doing that would give me a 6 - 3 - 8 for veg. Sounds better.... Then I could switch to Bud Candy during Flower, and use Micro instead of Cal Mag to facilitate a N Drop. Or for a 3 - 1 - 2 mix, I could do 2 parts Cal Mag, 1 part Micro, 1 Part Bloom. Then I'd have a 12 - 3 - 8. That would supply 6.5 Ca, 2.2 Mg (3:1)
I also read that the optimum Ca
Ratio is 1.5:1. I would be a little heavy on the cal mag, but not ridiculous.
Maybe use the 12 - 3 - 8 for Aggressive Growth
Maybe use the 6 - 3 - 8 for Standard Growth
Add PK boosters for flower 0 - 1 - 2, 0 - 1 - 3, 1 - 5 - 4 to get that 1 - 1 - 2 ratio or 1 - 2 - 3 ratio (standard/agressive)
Use Bud Candy to Correct any Mag Issues
Use an off brand, low nitrogen cal mag supplement like GH calimagic 1 - 0 - 0 5%Ca 1.5%Mg to upscale the CaMg when necessary.
