Advanced Veg Techniques

So last night I claimed in a post that our veg cycle was insane and that it set up my first couple weeks of flowering andthus improved my overall yields. Well a member asked me what I do that's so insanely different and I responded but I figured I would share it again in it's own post.

My veg cycle gets broken down into two phases; a pre veg which takes place in keg cups or 4" pots under T5's and lasts two weeks from the time they leave the cloner. I feed at 1/4 strength the first week, 1/2 strength the 2nd week, and ramp up from there to full strength. The second phase of our veg cycle starts at day 15 when we transplant directly into their final container (the one I will harvest them in) usually 5-7 gallons and root friendly (rootmaker, Smartpot, etc) and under full light (usually 6-10k) for an additional 3 weeks. So our total veg cycle time is 5 weeks counting the pre veg, and maybe another 5-7 days of time spent in our cloners beforehand. I used to transplant into 3 gallon containers from the cups and then again into 5-7 gallon containers a week or so before flipping the lights, but a number of grows ago I ran out of 3 gal containers and was forced to put them directly into their final pots from cups. The results blew me away. The growth, yield, and speed were all increased by 20% or so. No shit, just by skipping the 3 gal stage.

Every single time I transplant I treat the root wads as if they are my most prized possesion. Every single time, every single plant. I don't disturb the roots what so ever. I always add bennies to the containers when I transplant which used to be great white but now is Oregonism XL. I feed with B1, Buddha Grow, Buddha Bloom (yes bloom), Amino Aide, Trinity, Extreme Serene, Ancient Amber, Hygrozyme, Uprising Grow, Big Worm, Uprising Foundation, Elemental, and gmas mollases. I water everyother day, but make sure I spend a couple of hours a day in my veg room making sure that everything is taking up water around the same pace and that any sign of rest or slowing gets dealt with immediatly. I don't care what I have going on the next day, it gets dealt with by me or a friend. I don't skip a day or get lazy, I am right there at all times.

I top everything at 18-20" when my cages go up. I prune two more times in veg and make sure that all of my plants get pruned at the same time (I spread it over two days for my larger grows). Everything shocks at the same time and recovers the same time, that way everything remains uniform and the nutrient uptake stays equal. I lollipop everything in my final prune for better airflow and to concentrate all of the plants energy into it's main shoots. I prune and train for as many bud sites as possible, which plays a huge role in my yields come flowering time. Like I said above my veg cycle set up my flowering cycle, and greatly increases my yield. I do in three weeks what most people can't do in six. I find each strains sweet spots and just pour on the love and things seem to work out.:-o

Damn I wish I could walk through your grow rooms... Really. I bet its amazing. Oh, if I didnt tell u. Im already on my way

Paul N Chuck, hell I just wish I had more room to walk in my rooms. A funny story but one of my first times ever running a SCRog was a room of 24 plants consisting of 21 different strains. I had some stuff come up and left them in veg a little too long, by the time I threw the netting up they were already over 5' tall and I hadn't even flipped the lights yet. Like I said I had some stuff come up and got behind which also led to some spider mites that needed to be dealt with before flowering. So now I have 24 monster plants under a SCRog net that measures 20'x18' that makes it impossible to move the plants around. So I filled our 2 gallon sprayer with neem, stripped down to my boxers and did work. I'm on my back wiggling around 10 gal smart pots and saucers spraying every possible square inch of plant material and just covered in neem oil and coco fiber and perlite from the floor. About this time I hear my doorbell wring and it dawns on me that right before I had decided to spray I ordered a pizza, and now the delivery guy is at the door. With no time to do much of anything and worrying if I don't answer the door I'm burnt with Dominos, I simply wipe my face of neem (or so I thought) and head to the door in my boxer shorts. I look thru the peep hole to make sure it's the pizza guy and not someone else. Well it's not the pizza guy, but a pretty good looking pizza chick, just my fucking luck. So yeah the door comes swinging open and apparently I startled the girl and she dropped the 2 liter which ruptured and began to spray everywhere. I bent down to pick it up and try and gain control of the situation when I hear her car door shut and she lights the tires up and down the driveway she goes. Never got a phone call and got a free pizza out of the deal, but now I use Pizza Hut or some other pizza place in fear of further tramitization of pizza delivery drivers. This has nothing to do with my veg techniques, just u wanting to walk thru my rooms made me think about when I couldnt walk around my rooms period. Never a scrog that big again!

Yeah vegging under 6-10k will definitely cause rapid lush growth. Root health directly correlates to plant health gotta agree there. 5 week veg will grow some trees for sure. Guess you gotta do trees in oregon though with the low plant limits.

yeah 15 plants in a flower room at once per patient would be nice. 8 patients and 48 plants in flower is more than enough for me these days. I started out growing in Washington years ago. Lots of good genetics come from WA; Romulan, PermaFrost, Udub, etc! I've bread a lot of my genetics with a Platinum out of Tacoma, it's been very very good to me. About to make some Platinum Bubba Kush in a couple months.

Haha i used to run a 99 plant op in pvc nft. Getting into the rooms in flower was impossible unless you crawled on your back under the pvc and supports. Ended up laying two 6x2s across the room in order to walk out into the middle. I remember a few times buck ass naked doing work. never ordered pizza there though because the exhaust was so strong it would suck the front door closed and sounded like a jet engine.

Pltinum bubba sounds real nice. Got an uncle down in oregon doing the care provider thing. I know what ya mean 48 "oregon" size shrubs is a lot of work. Props.

Shiva, thanks man. That means a lot to me! A lot of people (including myself at one time) don't really have a clue what goes into a grow that size. It's litterally a full time job for one person and then some. The production cloning is what takes up most of my time, and plays havic on my finger tips from the scalpels. When I first took on 4 patients I had no idea what I was getting myself into. With in two months I was beggin my friends for help with everything, and guess what everyone was busy. I was about to call it quits when I sat down and re thought everything out and made the decision to continue and buckle down. I made my grows my life 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Now we have an additional 4 patients and things are running smoother than ever. 48 plants in flowering is a handful, but now I have reliable people (other growers) that come and help when I absolutely need it, and in return they get access to some stellar genetics! Washingtons co op rules are interesting compared to Oregons. Why would you have ten patients with a max of 45 plants when you can have 3 patients and the same number of plants? I guess the yielded weight is easier to account for with more patients...

I still have a ton of family and WA and travel there a couple times a month.

Yeah dry weight is the reason for more coop members. Harder to explain why you have only 45 plants but 30 lbs of herb for 3 people. The "rules" are crazy though no one really follows them...unbelievable how much cali outdoor sits on the shelves here from october to may. I guess some people wouldnt notice...however opposite of you most of my fam is in southern oregon and northern cali lol.

Yeah dude a lot of people are probably jealous of your grows....but would be amazed at how fucking much work you do.
