Hi all I'm quite a new to growing still. I'm after a little advice for my first organic 12/12 from seed grow. I'm doing 12/12 from seed due to lack of space in my new house. im after a soil that does not require any extra nutes (just water). If anyone could recommend a good organic soil that I can purchase in the U.K. I would be very great full for any advice

Most recommended soil for pot is Fox Farm Ocean Forest and it consist of a good amount of nutrients. But to go from start to finish you are going to have to add more nutrients to the soil, this can be done by mixing it in with the soil or putting it on top when needed and watering it in. It is not much that needs to be added if you have a good base soil like Fox Farm or Roots Organic. I would suggest:
Earthworm castings
Bat guano
Blood meal
Fish bone meal or Bone meal
Also adding some Epsom salt will help
Fox farm's dry nutrient line up is also good

Thanks for the advice much appreciated. I have been looking for a couple of days and came across canna terra professional. Link below.

Is this a good starting point?

Is there no soil then that can be purchased that will go the whole length of the grow?

Yes, but it won't take you the whole way. You could start with this and amend it with extra nutrients, but I think you'd be guessing at how much to add because of whats already in there.

Simple answer, no, not in the UK

I have recently found this 'supersoil nutrient pack' on ebay in the uk, but you would need to add this to a base soil and in most peoples opinion on here the recipe is a little outdated and better nutrients could be used.

You could get the canna soil and mix this in at 50g per 10L of soil. You would then have to let the soil sit for at least 4-5 weeks before you could use it. This should get you all the way, but there's no guarantee's on anything, too many variables.

I have also now found UK sources for all ingredients in the 'Coot' soil mix. It may work out a little more expensive to start up, because of the size of the nutrient packs you would have to buy, but you won't be buying anything else for a long time, they'll last you years. In theory you can mix your own 'Coot' soil and plant straight into it and IMHO, this would be your best option. It'd take me a little time to find all the links for ya, so read up on Coot's mix and let me know if you wanna go that way

Cheers mate I've been speaking to a friend of a friend today he said he has been using sugar peak nutes with canna professional and is getting good results but he just didn't know how it will go with the 12/12 from seed.

The only reason I was really looking into a soil that would last the grow is because I've got a new job where I will be working away every couple of weeks and the other half will be looking after them so just wanted to have a simple set up.

But thanks for all your help and advice always comes in handy in the future

Yea it's a pretty good starting point, should work fine with some added nutrients.
A balanced organic soil will usually contain some of these (the more the better):

Peat moss, bat guano, soybean, earthworm castings, soybean meal, pumice, compost, lignite, greensand, glacial rock dust, oyster shell flour, k-mag, coco fiber, perlite and leornardite

Ye the canna pro contains a blend of sphagnum moss peat, compost, worm castings, perlite and a special 'natural plant booster' which is a blend of organic ingredients.

So with the sugar peak should go alright hopefully.

Because I'm planning on going 12/12 from seed do you think the nutes that in the soil would get it through the first few weeks before they start to pre flower?

Not sure about that soil but I've heard that fox farm soil will supply the plant with plenty of nutrients for first few weeks, so I would say it is most likely good enough for first few weeks. I like to add more nutrients to the bottom half of the pot so the roots will grow into the nutrients
