Advice on opening Grow Shop.

Hello guys I live in Virginia and have taken to growing plants and veggies of all kinds. I have been kicking around the idea of opening a grow shop for a while. There is only 1 that i know of within 150 miles of where i live. My main questions are:

What products do you expect a shop to carry at all times?

Have you heard of any legal ramifications of opening a shop of this kind?

Do you feel more comfortable ordering supplies online or from a brick and mortar store?

I don't know the answers but those are very basic questions and I doubt this is the best place to research them. I'd start with a lawyer in your state. By the way, I've tried to shop and area grow shops but found prices much higher than online.

I've never been to a grow shop but I would prefer buying from a store so that I could pay cash and not have a record of having stuff shipped to my house. Maybe that's a bit paranoid but I don't guess you can be too careful.

If you're going to run a grow shop, make damn sure the only other thing you grow ANYWHERE are vegetables. Grow shop owners are kind targets for LEO.

Thanks for the info. What I wanted to find out was, is there a market for the local grow shop? I can sink $15k into a storefront if I dont know what the market is like. To be honest there is no market research I can buy to find the information I need. So I thought I would go right to the source.

As far as the pricing goes, this grow shop wouldn't be my only business. I have a business currently that does very well, but I am bored with it. Since growing even veggies is fun for me the grow shop would be a hobby really. So the prices would be better than on-line after you factor in shipping.
