Best way to break up soil around plant to get more air to the roots??
well why are you looking to do this are you seeing deficiency issues? is it in a pot or ground? if its already planted digging around the plant and adding perilite could be done but depending on how established they are i would personally supplement if your already in descent enough soil.. i mean if your in clay obviously that would be a reason to amend the soil better but in that case i would dig a really good area around the plant to pull it out.. make it a big enough area around the plant so your not disturbing a lot of the main roots.. then amend the soil in the area place the plant back in with the old soil ball around the roots and let the new roots grow into the healthier soil

Use good soil with pearlite and or vermiculite, goood soil is paramount and it should clump when you squeeze it and then fall apart in a few seconds. I am dumbfounded when people spend hundreds on seeds and nutrients and then use crappy soil, buying a bag or two of soil is the cheapest part of the grow so id suggest buying quality growth medium

Yeah this is my first grow. Only a couple of weeks in. My farm supports all the other vegetables I grow. It's a clay type soil. Just a random question. Any other tips about growing outside?

I have a golf club with no head on it (just a shaft w/handle) that I put a screw driver tip on the end of it. I poke the screw driver tip/shaft into the soil 12-15 times around the root ball once a month for aeration reasons.

stock up on pesticides and switch them up bc they get immuned fast. Use B.T. for bud worms, and keep fungicide on hand for high humidity when buds pack weight, bud rot sucks assssss

Be very careful using this technique you can damage the root system. It works but dont be overzealous

Read up on topping, LST, and feeding schedules those are all really important factors on a successful first grow.

@treemansbuds ...hes a very stabby:P
Last season I didnt aerate as much as i should have and I have some clay type sandy soil. I threw my old soil from indoors (FF, promix) in with it( didnt have to too much to work with at the time). Still pulled 2 pounds off each. I dug pretty deep and loosened up the ground all around pretty well before they went in. Main stem was almost as big as my fist.Feed 2x's a week if they are drying out really fast and you are watering frequently
